You're right. But I think we just didn't realize that we never really reached very great heights in the first place. And everyone else kept improving, while we reached our "peak" and then began our descent into mediocrity.
The pain would be much worse had not this been the 6th (?) such loss.
Its a bit of a punch in the gut to realize that. Maybe we were just lucky. We had a good coach and team at a really good time, but it wasnt great. We were prone to slip ups, and let down losses. White beat the bad teams day and night but the two good teams in the conference gave us fits. The losses @ODU and @UAB his last year were pretty bad.
Everything is just averaging out now as the bottom gets better and the top flattens out. I dont think UAB is far behind on this, and MTSU will likely feel it in the coming years as well. We'll just have to hope we are hot in the tournament this year... no different than any other year really.
Dude. We have 1 win over a Top 150 team. One. A botched play miracle to beat #140 Evansville in Cancun. We lose to almost everybody with a pulse.
SFA, UTSA, and FIU are all 150+ teams we lost to, 2 of which were at home. That's not good.
We were a Top 85 program under White, and we are now trending out of the Top 150 under Konkol. Stop making excuses, and open your eyes.
And the sad thing about this program is the future isn't any brighter. We have to replace an all-conference defender/best 3-point shooter in Tech history. Next year we have three point guards and Duruji. No scoring 2-guard and no impact contributors in the post. Our lone signee is a non-recruited homeschool kid. Our roster is a mess. We have a few good pieces. But they don't fit together, and we are missing a couple key pieces.

Yet ULL doesn't have a single quality win. Zero Q1 wins. Zero Q2 wins. Which means ULL has zero chance at an NCAA at-large bid even if ULL wins out to the conference final. Same as Tech. Gotta win the tourney to get in, although ULL has a much easier tourney.
The most heartbreaking game I have endured in conference to date. We have been in some close games many times, but that was ridiculous! I literally cut everything off immediately at the buzzer. That was just insanity.
The "Gut-Wrenchers" has a familiar ring to 2017-18.
This is truly unbelievable. Reading how this game ended is like reading a very bad Hollywood script. The Washington Generals strike again!
Tech needs to get their act together. I'm really tired of seeing this school snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in every sport.
Bad coaching. It was very bad coaching to not foul FIU. I think I read that FIU is the worst free throw shooting team in the nation.
LA Tech led WKU with 18 seconds left, before losing by 1 pt. The Dogs had a chance to win it when they got the ball back with 11 seconds remaining and couldn't score.
Not excusing it. But they are better than they were.
But they were playing Tech, which means their percentages will mysteriously skyrocket.
Transfers, bad recruiting(two useless Jucos?!? Seriously?), no defense, and poor leadership have decimated a once proud program.
As I mentioned before some on this board are getting excited over wins over 200/300+ RPI teams.
I don't blame konkol...................... I'm sure he's doing the very best he can. Some folks are just a pretty good a.c., and not capable of being a good h.c.
Somebody please explain why our southland a.d. gave him a contract extension after each of the past two seasons. That's whom I put the blame on. (Oh, and he's the one who hired him, o.c.)
Gosh, did they take lessons from last year's football team! What a meltdown.
