Glad folks there are in an uproar over this. If the allegations are true (I say "if") then said school officials should be terminated effective immediately.

I wonder how long the policy has been in place? Surprised if it has been very long.

The liberals are about to go nuts over this one. How dare a guy take out a student for shooting other students.

Some say he should have just rushed him.

Well, you know that the handgun bullets would have only been a little stab wound so he should have rushed the shooter. -Sen Feinstein, probably

Those who keep saying "don't arm teachers" have been saying it indirectly. Many, like me, have been saying arm school employees, not "teachers". I've been met with objections here by you and others who don't think arming employees is logical.

Socialist are against any guns in "no gun zones". BTW, "no gun zones" may be THE dumbest idea ever.

No one has been saying that indirectly. That is your imagination. SROs are like police officers - not teachers - they are sworn LEOs employed by the police or sheriff. Around here we have SROs at al the schools. Their training and job responsibilities are completely different than your average joe shooter or what is feasible to provide or expect from teachers.

    Re: 2nd Amendment

We had an older SRO at the school where I taught. He had an office in the library. Often he could be heard snoring away. When he was needed he would often not respond to the intercom, so the office had to send someone to fetch him. He might swagger in...20 mins later.

I am not sold on the "arming teachers" thingy, as I have stated. Except my plan to have teachers on their planning period to be "on duty." Still, it will only work using teachers who volunteer for this duty and who are 100% completely comfortable, not only with handling guns, but being in a scenario where they have to actually use that gun.

    Nope

Besides, it seems that quite a few SROs are already armed.

I don't know what socialists have to do with me.

Wouldn't your proposal allow local governments to "opt out"? I guess I'm wondering how what you've proposed is any different than what we have now.
