UTSA upsets RICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!
UTSA upsets RICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rice still in 3rd place, but we are just one game behind them. Beat them on Thursday night in Houston and we are guaranteed a 4 seed and a bye in the first round of the tournament. Could even move to 3rd with some luck from some other teams. Never thought I would be cheering for UTSA, but that was a fun game!
Now JUST WIN TECHSTERS!!!!!!!!!!
ESPN hs a 4 seed in the standings right now! Seems tho that LaTech, MTSU and Charlott all are have 6 in the current standings...losses...
LaTech and MTSU with 6 wins and Charlott with 8 wins...
Charlott would have the tie breaker over the Techsters if they win out and LaTech should have the tie breaker over MTSU if we both win out!
Rice's schedule is finally catching up with 'em. We knew Rice was over-rated after the Lady Techsters blew 'em out recently.
Charolotte has two games left - both at home. They play ODU and FAU. If they lose one of those and we beat Rice, we could jump them in the end and end up a 3 seed, but that isn't likely.
Predicted standings, if we beat Rice:
1 - WKU
2 - UAB
3 - Charolotte
4 - Louisiana Tech
5 - Rice
6 - MTSU
Plus, beating Rice and winning our first game in the tournament gets us back to a 20 win season.
Given where we've been recently, that would be a "good" accomplishment. But....it's depressing for a lifetime Techster fan to think we're HOPING for a 20-win season.
But, I'm gonna take a page out of your book, Champ, and just be OPTIMISTIC!!! We will get to 20 (and 20+) this year, and in the next couple of years when Brooke has us rocking in the Top 25 we'll point to this season as the year it turned around.
LOVE DEM TECHSTERS!!!
Rice did beat WKU, though. In fact, UAB and Rice beat WKU. We seemed to get spooked by how good WKU was looking early in the year. This is anyone's tournament to win, but we struggle with our energy level and consistency. Hopefully, we have that behind us when it counts now.
We just need to win. As it is, if we win, Rice beats NT, Middle Tennessee wins, and Charlotte wins their last two. All of us end 10-6.
As long as both us and MTSU win, I think we dont have to worry with Charlotte's outcome. Because if they win out, tiebreaker is record between the three teams, right? And if Rice wins against UNT it'd be between the four teams?
Here is the CUSA men's tie-breaking rules. I assume it is the same for the Women. From what I am reading, head to head record comes first. After that, if still a tie, it appears the overall winning percentage can come in to play. If so, we would beat out Charlotte and MTSU. Rice would beat us out on overall record, but we would have beaten them twice head to head. The read on this is a little confusing.... Someone help me out with it.
