The only CUSA team left in post-season right now is Rice in the WNIT. They play New Mexico at New Mexico tonight. I really apologize, but I don't think I can really cheer for them. They are a very difficult team to like for me.....

I agree. Additionally, next year they (Rice) will get a lot of attention because the 6'9 Oklahoma transfer (Nancy Mulkey) will be eligible. However, I think she weighs 100 lbs. She will probably cause a lot of problems in the league by altering shots, etc. Teams will need to be VERY physical with her. Overall, CUSA will be a much improved league next year without a dominant team.Originally Posted by champion110

the MAC has two women's teams in the Sweet 16 of the Big Dance. Guess CUSA is worst than I thought.

It is going to be tough replacing the strength of Malone inside for us.......
Hopefully we are recruiting for this need plus height.
I am sure we are, but not many spaces for next year. Sweets and Whitney are really going to have to step up. Malone is the only one we lose from this year....

I find this very interesting. Back in January I attended the WKU vs LA Tech men's game in Bowling Green, and I really thought we were better than WKU. That was the game that Tech blew after getting the ball back with 11 seconds remaining, and trailing by only one point. IMO, that was the turning point in LA Tech's season. Everything was set up for Tech to steal a HUGE CUSA win on the road from WKU, CUSA's preseason favorite. We just couldn't get it done.
Just goes to show you how "choking early" can turn an entire season on its ear.
The Hilltoppers (9-5) led for more than 39 minutes only to see the lead slip away with just 18 seconds remaining when DaQuan Bracey scored on a drive to put the Bulldogs up 68-67.
Lamonte Bearden hit a pair of free throws to put Western Kentucky back on top 69-68 with 11 seconds remaining.
Bracey had a jump shot blocked by Dwight Coleby with five seconds left, but chased down the ball and passed to Jacobi Boykins who missed from distance as time ran out.
We lacked consistency all year in both men's and women's. Not just from game to game, but from minute to minute....
They have a hard route to the championship game, Okie State, then St. Mary's/Utah winner. All three of them looked great last night, from what I watched.
