The last time we played there was 2015. Both games were played in Ruston in 2016. We only played one in Ruston last year. I believe it was the only game scheduled, but not sure.
FWIW, we have allowed Grambling to use our facilities more than once. That and the promise of more usage in the future should be worth more than a very small gate for them. Of course we have to keep in mind that the great negotiator is in charge of such things.
Get any rain tomorrow and I doubt the game will be played, but it does sit on top off the hill and the infield has a very high crown...
They’ve added a covered batting cage down the left field line
I’ve been in worse and some CUSA schools have a lot worse than what Grambling has...
UTSA this weekend as case in point
''Don't be a bad dagh..."
Sure...
Houston-Texas Southern.
Southern Miss-Alcorn/Jackson St. (I forget which.)
It's probably happened with LSU and Southern, but for tournament hosting purposes, not just getting a bid.
Etc.
It happens. No big deal. It's a baseball game. One of 56. One that's already been played this year and that we've been scheduling twice a year.
You are over-thinking this way too much. Nobody really cares. We aren't talking about cancelling a rarely played football game the day before. It's just a baseball game.

Paid gate wouldn't be close to that much. No way.
Last time we played at Grambling official attendance was only 110. Yes, like champion110.
Now how many of those 110 got in free, were students, used comped tickets, used season pass, etc.?
Honestly, I'm not sure if Grambling charges for admittance into baseball games. I can't find anything on their website about baseball tickets.
I just checked their latest audit, and last year GSU's total ticket revenue for non-football, non-basketball sports was only $2,756 for the entire year!
This ^^^ Arkansas already cancelled on Grambling this year.
Thank you.
You would think some would learn their lesson after Burroughs screwed up last year by not adding a couple good midweeks to replace our two rain/snow/chicken-outs. He said he felt good about our resume as is. Well, he obviously proved to be wrong when we got left out needing a couple more good wins on our resume. Let's not make the same mistake again in back-to-back seasons. Let's learn from it, and do something about it. Oh look, his friend in Fayetteville looks like he could use a nice replacement game.
This suggestion was posted 2 days before game day, on an Easter Sunday. If it were to be done, It should have been done a week ago.
Going forward we should just play them once a year.
Or... convince GSU to cancel it on game day morning due to threat of severe weather. --> No buyout! If we were hosting, we could've easily cancelled 24 hours in advance due to threat of severe weather.
I've been eyeing the weather forecast this whole time. I'm sure Burroughs has been, too. It's always an easy way out, especially if you are hosting the game.
But you are right -- we should not be scheduling more than one SWAC/Grambling game per season. That's kinda the point of this thread. I hope Burroughs fixes this for future schedules. Coach Cooper understands.
