Do we conduct exit interviews for players or coaches? Maybe we should start?
You could go a long way in making the data more comparable by adding information on both sides (the numbers for basketball players transferring doesn't account for things like kids being encouraged to look elsewhere either).
The point is just that before we all assume that this is the end of world, this is a thing that college students do, and it's ok. It's not great as a fan of a particular team, and it's worrisome when you start thinking of all the schools with more resources out there tempting "our" guys away. But it's not necessarily some great moral collapse.
How much worse does the transfer rate get if they do away with sitting out a year? If G5 schools are just the minor league for P5’s we will lose freshman all the time who show any promise.
No it's not irrelevant when a statement is made how their transfer rate is lower than the general student transfer rate -
They are all "free market" variables -
I would argue it is part of the moral collapse of the society in general also
I would like to know - how many of these transfers attended two or more "high schools or prep schools"
How many of these transfers "shopped" AAU programs
It is a multi-BILLION dollar business now and it's all about MINE or WHAT SHOULD BE MINE
It is about committment

I will add this -
I'm totally against the argument of a college athlete being paid for their "likeness or image"...
How much is that "image" worth without the NAME on the jersey?
Can someone answer that question?
I Johnnie B or Suzie Q Smith's image worth ANYTHING without the KANSAS, DUKE, GONZAGA, ALABAMA or ETAL's name on the jersey?
No it's not
And if it does have some "potential value" isn't it being paid for on a DEFERRED BASIS when they go pro or attempt to go pro?
Without the EXPOSURE provided for and PAID for through the association with the NAME ON THE JERSEY what potential value does it have
IF the individual is so valuable go pro right after high school and find out what that VALUE is - 99,999 out of 100,000 times it is not much
Parents and handlers would let these kids ENJOY the RIDE and grow from it - the kids would be better served for life in general which is NOT FAIR and is FULL OF PITFALLS AND CHALLENGES
