Hmm. I'm not sure if Dec 26th is a good date for the "Heart of Dallas" Bowl are not. It's so close to Christmas Day that it's probably tough for most people to travel. HOWEVER, the same bowl game was on Dec 26th back in 2014, and our fans traveled very well to that one. I also think it's a good time for TV viewership, because no bowl games are played the day before (on Christmas day). So I guess the 26th is okay.

This will be the 4th time in last 5 years that it's on the 26th. That is what ESPN does to the bowls it doesn't own. Look at I-Bowl - the next day at the same time. If we can play there against a Big 10 opponent, I'm all in!

Ok HD, you just reminded me of scatter-brained county extension agent on Green Acres, Hank Kimball.

But doesn't ESPN not only own, but manage both HoD and the Armed Forces bowls?

Make no mistake, an early bowl the day after Christmas is the worst bowl time slot possible. Who wants to spend Christmas stuck in a car/plane/hotel with everything else in town closed? HOD offered worst bowl experience of any bowl. That's why this bowl is on the brink of extinction. It's so poorly run that they may be the only bowl game televised by the ESPN family of networks that didn't make an announcement yesterday. They haven't tweeted or updated their website since last year. The only good the HOD Bowl has going for it is that it's located in Dallas, and we maybe have a 50/50 chance to play a 6-6 opponent from the Cartel.

Because ESPN won't have a Heart of Dallas Bowl as Dallas has declined to sign up for the $400,000 per year ESPN requires. So, as of today, there is no Heart of Dallas Bowl in 2018. Things can change, but, at least my home town is acting fiscally responsible, which is a rare event.
