Isn't there more to the waiver claim thing? If he would have been claimed then is there some rule he would have to stay on the roster for at least a certain length of time? Maybe that is baseball, not football.

And what's the practice squad rule, can other teams come along and sign a player off other practice squads?

With the numbers pickle, the Saints believe Gillislee is currently more equipped than Boston to contribute now. Sucks but hopefully Boston can change that as he learns the playbook.

    .

That is where I don't get. Boston camped and practice learning the Saints playbook for weeks. He has a working rapport with the team. Recently, they brought Gillislee in a few days ago (1 yr contract) who made the 53 and then waived Boston.

How is Gillislee more equipped? I understand this is his 6th NFL season, but he just arrived like a few days ago.

If a team claimed him, he'd have to be placed on their 53-man roster. I don't know if there is a length of time required but if they wanted to move him to the PS then they'd have to waive him.

Once he cleared waivers he was free to sign with any practice squad. The rumor is he had multiple practice squad offers but chose to stay in New Orleans. Any team can sign him off of the practice squad but they would have to put him an their 53-man roster.

Could be a roller coaster year for him until he does something on the field that would make the Saints not want to expose him to waivers.

Unfortunately RBs in the NFL are a dime a dozen. It used to be a premier position, now it’s a plug and play position. The bad thing for Boston is his skill set matches Alvin Kamara’s and you are not going to get rid of Kamara for Scott.
I am a die hard Saints fan and Sean said he was looking for someone to replace kamara!! before anyone wets themselves he said couple of weeks ago Kamara would step into Ingram plays and he needed someone to do kamara plays. now he may have been jerking the media but under that scenario Scott would have a shot. he said Tuesday that Scott will develop into a solid player

It's going to be Kamara and Gillislee on Sunday.

Yeah, I knew that. Is that something to get excited about when Saints managment is calling the shots?

Saints management has built a great team through free agency and the draft. They obviously did not trust Scott as the #2. Get healthy on the o-line and he should be back on the active roster

I have no idea why they would pick up Gillislee unless they believe he could fill in Ingram's role better than Boston. Scott and Kamara are very similar IMO, that's the only reason I could give for possible doing it.

Coach said this week he expects Boston to develop and contribute, Saints have only one goal--win the Super Bowl -- I hope Boston gets a Super Bowl ring this season. Simple fact is Saints have made decision that he has a shot a being a part of team once he masters the system---

Gillislee is part of the team, I assume he "mastered the system" in just a few days.
