Our coach is horrible.
Our coach is horrible.
What a good job by Hasler. 2 1/3 innings, no base runners allowed. Now let’s get 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th!
Down to final out. Huddleston bats with Bates on 1st.
A single keeps us alive for Mason Robinson to bat.
Robison Ks and that is it
We let a their center fielder, who is not a pitcher beat us. He was struggling to throw strikes and our coach had our guys swinging at first pitches.
Wow!
That’s a very astute observation! We didn’t force him to throw repeated strikes.
As per Tech here comes the late season implosion. Our pitching is deteriorating and we aren’t clutch when it really matters.
I’m concerned S.Miss is going to school us on upper echelon baseball and maybe break our spirit for good.
It really sucks to underachieve.
Now we fight for 2 seed.. Gonna be hard with 3/6 at USM
Not sure it matters - we just lost a series to 10th place team in conference.
Burroughs lost this series by starting Miller on Friday & sticking with Leal after they pounded out 6 hits in one inning. Leal is effective when he gets ahead in count; otherwise he is very average. Not sure if he ever threw a first pitch strike. However our entire staff was ineffective against MTSU. We gave up 25 runs - OUCH!
You just know things aren’t lining up well for Tech when teams who have lesser records due to rain outs are going to finish with better conference positioning.
I know it’s an established thing going by percentage but the percentage should include the total conference games scheduled and not just the total conference games played.
Florida Atlantic has a game not played and an unsportsmanlike tie in their favor to place higher than Tech in conference.
Of course if we played better and coached better it would matter... as much
After seeing all 3 games this weekend I think we need some serious decision making in how we address our pitching woes and our batting order... some things are souring at a really bad time.
Fans have been patient waiting on Coach Insanity to make some changes. He did finally get things right by moving Netterville to DH and moving Hud down to the 6 hole. He needs to move them around at the top some. Why would he keep his best OB% guy in the 8 or 9 hole?
Remember when Tech's ERA was #1 in the country at 2.32? It was going into the Charlotte series just 14 games ago.
Tech's team ERA was still #5 at 2.72 starting this weekend. Now is at 3.06 after the horrendous weekend on the mound allowing 25 ER in 27 innings.
No coincidence that Tech is just 8-6 in those last 14 games and 7-5 in the last 4 conference series.
The strategy of using just 5 starting pitchers over 49 games may now come back to bite Tech with Bailey questionable at least short-term.
He had Leal available last Sunday. Baily injured, but according to Coach Insanity, "Bailey wanted to go". I know why he is afraid of Leal. We got a taste of it today and at lsu. BTW, he started Leal on a Wednesday against Lafayette after having thrown him the previous week at Lafayette. Today, when it was obvious Leal needed to come out he keeps him to help pad their lead (2 runs BTW)
Terrible loss.
Classic implosion.
This was a pretty good one though. Not as good as some. Built us up with the upsets early in the season. The high-ranked stats. Heck, even sniffed the Top 25! All just a part of the master plan that every Tech sport must follow: late season implosion.
Even the softball team - our last good team - is not immune. Its endemic.
A new article has been posted on www.latechsports.com:
The Louisiana Tech baseball team fell to Middle Tennessee by a 7-6 final Sunday afternoon from J.C. Love Field in front of 1,312.
