might want to double ck this. Our AD has instructed his cracker jack staff not to look at stats compiled during Gravy's career and before. Edit: 20+ conference games in baseball were not the norm during the 70s and 80s. We have had a better conference winning percentage many times. Dave way over reacted to the misleading stat
This one appears to be legit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...seball_seasons
edit: started typing my comment as you were updating yours. But I bet that Tommy doesn't know that it's a real stat. Blind dog finds a bone every now and again.

Back in the late 70's, into the early 80's we played maybe 15 conference games. It varied. Some years in the old SLC, we had 3-game series and some years 4-game series vs. conference foes. And, we played about 30 games total in the regular season. Again, that varied year to year. And, much like the old SLC in Men's Hoops, it was very good in baseball. USL and Lamar were always good in baseball, especially Lamar, often ranked in the Top 20. McNeese had its share of success too. So our conference games were not easy.
Added to that, was a VERY competitive OOC slate. We played series vs. the likes of Texas, Oklahoma State, Miami, South Alabama (when they too were a regular visitor to the Top 20 under legendary coach Eddie Stanky), Ole Miss, Mississippi State, UNO (under Hall of Fame coach Ron Maestri). A lot of such series were mid-week, 2-game series. The results were tough schedules, often with 1/3 of our games vs. Top 20 teams, and over half vs. teams that ended up in the NCAA playoffs.

We win today we're #2 seed.
We may not win today game
We've certainly had some ugly strikeouts swinging for the fence instead of for a base hit. And that's on top of being plunked by ODU's pitcher 3 times.
