Lost big opportunities to score earlier.
We are playing some really sloppy baseball in the field. You can just see the confidence growing in the ODU players' body language. They've got to be thinking "Our season is over after this game today, but we can BEAT THESE GUYS AT THEIR PLACE".
And we've put up our 6th consecutive goose egg inning of offense. Tech still trails 0 - 2 going to the 7th.
This is why Tech sports are so frustrating. Every single card in the deck is in our favor and yet somehow we are finding ways to blow this game (and our at-large).
ODU's pitcher just hit his 5th Tech batter. And we follow it up with a double play ground out. Then another ground out to kill our momentum. Simply amazing. You could hear a pin drop at the Love Shack right now.
I'd be surprised if I hadn't watched this exact movie a billion times.
It all comes down to the head coach - failed to inspire his players.
These players should be inspired on their own. They should strive to finish out the season on their own. Blame the players for a lack of effort, or loss of enthusiasm, or no inspiration.
ODU's pitcher is coming out to pitch again in the 8th. He just threw his 100th pitch. WE SHOULD BE BLASTING THIS TIRED PITCHER!!!!
There are reasons why most of these players playing for non P5 schools when we take the blue tinted glasses off.
They would have to outperform their capability to be winners and they would need great coaching to overcome their flaws and weaknesses.
Even great athletes without good coaching can’t win championship.

The fact is we just haven't been a good baseball team in Ruston for the last month and a half. We're just too lackadaisical playing at home. Since April began we are 4-6 (excluding today) in Ruston. This is a big problem.
