Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

Thought he did a good job while here, which is the reason he was hired away by Ole Miss. Yes, that's his alma mater but they wouldn't have hired him if he had not had success as a head coach.

I was kinda surprised to see his record was only 19-15 (he was coach most of the time I was there, and if I remember correctly his wife, Kay, was my instructor for my Speech class).

Then I looked at who came before him and remembered how the program was in shambles after Beightol left and the baseball coach coached the last game of the previous season. Coach Brewer did a good job of rebuilding the team.

Pat Patterson was the coach of that last game and he won. His record as a head football coach is 1-0. Best record in our football program

True. In 1979. And I think Tech kicked a FG as time expired to win that one 13-10?

I was dating an NLU Injun Pom pon girl at that time. We went out after the game and ran into a bunch of her injun friends (in Monroe). Yes, the game was in Ruston, but we partied in Funroe. They were not in a partying mood, at first. But they loosened up.

This is the last time I saw Billy Brewer. It was 2011.
