Weird schedule, probably more so because of Bracket Buster. Played first regular home game and then nothing for 3 weeks. It was like the Circus was in town.

White was obviously not pure and the schedule got progressively worse.
Konkol has accelerated it.
Here is suggestion number 1.
Go ahead and sign an annual home and home with ULL. Playing them home and away every year. They are better competion than 95 percent of what we bring in here. IF we played them twice a year, it might actually become a rivalry on our side and we start winning more of them.
Suggestion Number 2.
Home and home with upper Sunbelt and upper Southland is much better than ANY swac game.
Nobody praised Mike White for his schedules. His schedules were bad, which is why we won 27 games with a win over a Top 20 Oklahoma team and a conference championship but ended up a 3 seed in the NIT.
And Konkol is bringing in more highly sought-after recruits.
The wins and championships happened with White because he could develop raw athletes, coach to their strengths, and consistently get the most out of his teams.
Konkol's problem is he just can't keep big men in the program. He signs them and then they are gone in no time (transfer, academics issues,...). The end result is the same- we get manhandled in the paint by good teams, like we have for nearly 30 years.
That's one of his problems. The others are he can't keep good players regardless of position, he generally speaking does not have the talent that Mike did (though we do have some really good players), and his teams have no identity.
The program is blowing in the wind imo
I disagree. Speedy, Heem, Hamilton, Threeyon, Johnson, Anderson, Kyser. I think they are better, but most importantly, I think they complemented each other very well. All could defend full court, offensively they played their role.
We have good ones now, but I don't see the pieces fitting like they did.
