What was wrong with Young. That ball was clearly dropping. No excuse for getting thrown out from center field.

Young cost us a desperately needed run right there.
Netterville grounds to 3rd and forces Wells at 3rd. 1st and 2nd 2 out.
Wallace pinch-runs for Netterville. Bates batting.
Bates grounds out.
FINAL FAU 8 Tech 6
And there goes our season.
Blah
Out 8-6 on a "base hit." Once again lousy base running cost us dearly.
Well, it wasn’t a horrible year considering it was essentially a whole new team. We definitely have some weak links that need to be rectified. I hope Burroughs recognizes that there are some guys who no matter how many chances you give them just don’t have what it takes to play at this level. It’s unfortunate to have to treat young men sternly, but this isn’t Little League anymore.
We also found some keepers for two or three more years too. If the weak links can either be fixed or replaced, next year could be special.
And it looks like Tech may have some in-state company tonight. Cajuns one run and two innings away from ending their season at home by being run-ruled.
I am so tired of competing in “good” years and getting curb stomped in “bad” years. I want to compete in bad years and win in good years. Probably too much to ask.
So...what now?
Another year, another dud.
... and now, reality sets in...
our next season is Skippy time.
First, let me say I thought Mallard was safe. It looked like he beat the throw down, but they never showed a close up view on the replay to see tag or hand on the base.
This whole Mallard perfect on stolen bases thing was kinda laughable all season. He got picked off 4 times in one week (twice in one game) earlier this season. Just never officially went down in the scorebook as a CS.
Of course, the base running blunder killed a rally. 1st and 3rd, no outs. Had no business stealing with no outs, runner at 3B and top of order coming up. And then of course our guy is still sitting on 3B and doesn't score. But he doesn't want to make the 1st out at home. Just a really dumb decision to try to steal in that situation. And FAU ran their 1st and 3rd play to perfection to notch an insurance run in the 8th.
