I haven't seen many high school gyms that can fit a regulation size football field. The field in the indoor is the same exact size as every game field in america. Tell me how did you like the tour of the 100,000 sq ft athletic performance center. Not buying it. I'll take my family members word who was on recruiting trips to all 3 with his son. I know he saw them all this summer up close and personal.
Kent I respect your argument, I really do. Calling yourselves UL seems silly when you really just aren’t that good. I know you’re looking forward to your new coach, and you should be excited about it. It’s just the idea of it that I think people outside of your fan base can’t come to grips with. When people are like yeah my cousin goes to UL... that’s undeserved credibility being forced upon people. It makes you sound better than you really are. I mean, it’s marketing genius because it works. People my age call them UL. It’s working... yikes
Paw and Tyler, yes. You may be against it. I may be against it. That doesn’t matter. It has worked. And as long as I run into 32 year olds saying UL and also kids I’m high school saying UL, I will say it’s marketing genius. It’s working. I hate it, we hate it.. but it’s working. When I’m y’alls age, it won’t even be a thought. They’ll either be “UL Laf” (you’ll laugh) or UL. It’s heading toward the latter faster than anyone can stop it. I will never support it, but I am one man listening to many. That’s just how it is. It’s marketing genius.
That fact LSU hasn’t stopped the branding effort and we also have signed our best recruiting classes every year, year after year for the past 3 or 4 (when they started the whole branding effort) means people aren’t putting that much stock into it. We need to focus on our dawgs and not be offended if we feel someone steps into our territory. Sometimes we act like actual dogs. Let them do what they want. As long as we handle business, we will keep getting the recruits they want and blowing them out in games of football.
The simple truth is that no one outside of Acadiana gives a rip what name UL-LAF calls themselves. For that matter, no one cares if Southern California and South Carolina both call themselves USC either. It changes nothing, and it's simply not an issue worth wasting one's time worrying about. If what ULL calls itself mattered, LSU would have already put a stop to it the way they forced them to change their official name to University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Agree with you 100% on the recruiting you guys have crushed us over the ptrevious years. That was a HUD issue not branding. Hud proved he could win with Bustle's players, but not his own. Early indications are this staff will be much better, they already have some early verbal commits from kids with multiple P5 offers, one has a Notre Dame offer. My own nephew went to both camps Dogs and Cajuns, and left with an offer from both. On the way home from Ruston he told my brother he really liked Tech and thought he'd go there. Since then he and his family had a personal meeting and tour with Billy Napier, of living arrangements, study hall, nutrition and athletics. Although he has still not committed, lets just say they were absolutely blown away, and his recruiting has opened up a bit more since. I think with the current staff in Lafayette recruiting may get very interesting in the state of La. They will no doubt be better competition for you guys than our previous juice monkey was.
Look at the offers of this commit. A good example of this staff recruiting differently than the previous.

Look at this kids top 5. This never happened with Hud, even he commits elsewhere still being mentioned with pretty good company.

Actually early on ULM tried some type of Louisiana branding and it didn't work. It would be very difficult for the 6th largest school in the UL system to pull off, as the largest school has done. The school in Lafayette is more than double the size of ULM. NWST is bigger than ULM. ULM has a southland enrollment and a southland budget which is where they should be. The school in Lafayette is not trying to be something it is not, as you suggested. It is just trying to be the largest school, in the largest system, with in the state of Louisiana, which it is.

I have recently read quotes from the former head of ULS. Accoding to Sandra Woodley there is nothing illegal going on with the usage of Louisiana as athletic branding that can be stopped, which is the main reason nothing is being done. The university never uses UL, ULL or University of Louisiana in an official capacity. So there is nothing to stop there either. No one can tell the media or public how to refer to the school and it is slowly catching on especially outside of the state.
