I am on the positive side for now and believe Skip about J'Mar's mental progress and set the bar high 10-2 regular season . Win championship 11-2 and bowl game 12-2 .
We will know what we have after North Texas .
u look at our team by position group we are better or the same from my point of view .
Defensive backs = same And they are good , I think they will be better as our coach is good
Linebackers = better How much is the question
Defensive line =better Ferguson is motivated and others seemed better in spring
Offensive line = better if they are moving Dugas tells me this
Quarterback = at least the same and I believe Skip so improved
Running backs = with our line at least the same and I think Henderson is a Boston Scott for us
Receivers = at least the same and I think Smoke makes us better plus others
This leaves special teams = same
Not a normally discussed position but we will have to see how our new deep snapper performs
if I am right on All of this and we should be playing for conference championship in December.
With our depth normal injuries should not cause a big problem except at 2 positions quarterback and running back and the running backs always get nicked up. Dancy Israel Kam Henderson when I guy I like George Scott who is listed as a receiver.
I think Florida Atlantic is going to pick up where they left off last season. I have no clue how good LSU will be but my preseason hunch is that they will be no better than South Carolina was last year. As for us, it's going to be interesting for sure. I think we could actually challenge FAU (because of the defense). I'm curious to see if we can "walk the ball down the field" with our offense. Teams are going to double Veal until another couple of receivers prove themselves consistently reliable to make plays. Henderson could be a bust or a game-breaker. I take a minority position on J'Mar. I think he's going to have a good season. He pressed too much last year and I look for him to play with poise this year.
Have you considered those Dogs?
FAU lost their QB (our Diskel's brother). Don't know how much this will affect their play.
I’m not as sold on FAU, but that has more to do with LK’s short tenures.
We CAN challenge for the title this year. I think either our QB will have to really emerge OR our D will have to dominate for that to happen. If both happen, LSU could be in trouble.
Massey's says 9-3? Well, that would be a first for Holtz here at Tech, 9 wins in the regular season. Hope it happens.
Until the Dawgs prove otherwise, I'm sticking with a 7-5 prediction. As I posted elsewhere, this team can be better than last year's version, and still struggle to reach 7 wins due to the tough road schedule.
One thing I WANT TO SEE for sure! is this. If we lose, then puhleeze lose only because the other team was better, or had a better day. Don't lose games we have no business losing, which we managed to do 3 or 4 times last year. Well, honestly, given our schedule, if we lose 3 or 4 games we shouldn't, we'll end up 3-9 or 4-8.
If we play to our talent level, 10 regular season wins is a good bet.
All boils down to our QB and O line. If they play just above average, we will have many, many wins.
Hate to be a Debbie Downer on all of this, but I"m thinking 7-5. Reason is that I haven't seen anything to be over optimistic about regarding QB and OL play more than we have had in the past. HCSH is still HCSH and other than the bowl win last year, I haven't seen him play where there wasn't a field goal that he didn't love. Third reason is that we have a 7 road game season with our toughest opponents on the road.
