Really nice crowd of Tech fans at The Happening tonight.
Wow! Nice crowd.
I presume Skip Holtz attended. Any team updates from him?
Yes, updates please.
Overall he was very positive, which you would expect in front of the home crowd. He says all year people have implored him to "just beat the team from Baton Rouge"- even if that's the only game we win. He thinks he can do it. Southern is second game on schedule; he will beat them, drop the mike, and walk off the stage (everyone laughed). The major point he emphasized he that we have DEPTH- not as young as we were last year. You can't just depend on your #1 guy at the position. We have #3 guys competing with #2 and #2 guys competing to be number one. Tough to replace Boston Scott and Jarred Craft but he is pleased with the guys there competing. He doesn't feel he has a kicker now, so tongue in cheek said expect going for it on 4th down. He said this group does have very positive energy and he is very pleased with practice so far. I'll let others weigh in on their take.
It's weird. For years, Skip has more or less poor mouthed our squad before the season. He seems oddly optimistic.

I was just thinking that was scary to have high expectations. We are TECH fans, we are used to underachieving. I want to win every game, but I am with many in the hopes that we can beat lsu. Skip could be in the hall of fame in my book if he could achieve that. Unfortunately, there is no incentive in the contract to make that happen. I just keep thinking it is too much to hope for - to shut up those nay sayers just 1 season. The bandwagon rats would all be jumping off the lsu ship if that happened!
