I thought Crowton was good at LSU. I find it incredibly ironic that Les Miles had always struggled with offense and won his only National Championship with Crowton there. So it is strange to me that his career apparently nose dived after that.
Miles never knew what Crowton was up to. Crowtonn would work all week in practice to set up a TD play. He would run a similar play on third and short early in the game, say off tackle right to th TE side. Then in the third quarter he would line up in the same formation and call a play action pass to the TE. Miles would scream over the head sets “NO, run it”. Screw everything up have to call time out.
