I recently moved to Hattiesburg and while running into my neighborhood I met Christian Ostrander. He noted my Tech shirt and filled me in on who he was. Had nothing but good things to say about Tech. I wish we could hang on to quality coaches.

I remember wanting Tech to hire Ostrander before Burroughs got the job
We didn't lose him. He chose to move away from the "co HC" position our goof ball AD gave him.
Our goof ball AD did that. I won't say Ostrander would have been better than LB. We will never know. What we do know is that Ostrander was chosen to be the coach by most Tech baseball peeps and our AD decided to go to NSU and get an unproven coach.
Unproven coach? He has proven he can't make the NCAAs.
I was lukewarm about that hire. I did pose the question at the time of: what is it in his resume' that makes LB worthy of the Tech job? No one on this forum ever posted a response. I took that to mean the answer was "nothing." No wait...one poster defended the hire saying LB had inherited a mess at NSU and had had a couple of winning seasons there. Okay. But there are many other coaches who did that and more elsewhere.
I am not anti-LB. I'm just not on that bandwagon either.
Just saw where LB got a contract extension through 2023.
Our AD made a big deal out of holding on to LB and listed all his accomplishments at Tech except us getting in a regional.
What did he do to hold on to him? Nothing. A new 5 year deal with the same money he was earning before. It won't prevent any team who wants him from hiring him away. It's doubtful that the great negotiator put a buyout in place.
That’s not who we are.
