He has shown that he needs no support from up here to do what he wants. His support comes from Baton Rouge. Even guys like Hoffman, Walsworth, and Chaney (all nlu guys) won't buck him.

Even in HORRIBLE weather for home openers we never have attendance issues -

We usually don't start having attendance issues till mid to late October

Know YOUR school and your program's history...

My guess - if we had opened against a PV A&M last night - we put 18k to 21k in the stands even without students on a Thursday...

Why? Just because that's who we are and that's how our attendance trends -

Those are some of the same "fans" who remember large attendance at nlu when they were on their NC run in '87. It didn't happen. Outside of Grambling and Baylor they have never had large numbers other than when Tech played there.

I beleive this year's numbers are going to hit our athletic department in the gut.....so many people not renewing. The usually coveted chairbacks have open seats.

They still gotta put an EXCITING product on the field. Last year there was a noticeable decline in "excitement" on game day. This is why you can't have an offense that can't score TD's from the Red Zone.

First of all, ULM, wtf? 13,000 ALL YEAR? No way. This doesn't include their USA game.

We had 143K announced, 85K actual. That's an average of 24K announced, 14K actual...oof.

Huh. It's paywalled for me at home. I wonder if it was available on campus.

From what I remember, they are looking at publicly announced numbers vs actual scanned tickets. I don't know if they counted students but I'll see if I can find out.

I think I get enough from the preview... "ticketed fans counted at the gates." So I would think tickets actually used or counted. I wouldn't think, at least for our numbers, that includes students, band, etc. But still, I do not think it is a surprise that administrations inflate numbers.

The game has become almost unbearable for me because of the media time outs, petty penalties, play reviews and chitty officiating. Passing offense is fun to watch but the clock stoppage for incomplete passes drags the game out.

At home I usually watch 2-3 games by jumping around. In a stadium, I get bored by the stoppages. It just doesn’t move along fast enough.

Want fans to come back? I think you need to speed up the game.

The NCAA did make a rule change during the offseason to add a play clock in between PAT attempts and kickoffs. Its not much, but it is a step in the right direction to limit game times and time in between the action.

TV timeouts are the problem. They are too long and too frequent. It's and easy fix. Now we have to wait on TV timeouts when the game is not on TV. Who has ever grown impatient waiting on an xpt team to come on the field and kick?

The "TV timeouts" in a game not on any TV (rare) are probably for radio. I believe they just call them media time outs. Even in the older days when the game wasn't being shown nationally or even in our region it might have been on in the visiting teams area.

I think it has a lot to do with Internet streaming of games these days. That is what most of those long "TV timeouts" are. But, prior to the Net, and the advent of so much cable TV, that is "back in the day," games not televised went a whole bunch faster.
