I would argue that our defense stopped attacking after we built a bit of a lead. Seemed like we were sitting back and letting the plays come to us, not getting upfield and taking the attack to them. One of the main reasons the side-to-side running game and option had some success, imo.

If the LA Tech defense doesn't give up those last 2 ridiculous plays to USA at the end of the game, they would have held USA to a total of only 246 yards of offense for the entire game. That would have been an incredible defensive performance.

I just don't understand why they couldn't stop the absurd 59-yd run play on 4th down and 2. Where's the heart to finish? It's as if everyone had their head up their rectum during the last 2 min of play.

The D looked gassed the entire 2nd half...like from the first play. Weird.

Good observation, it looked like they had been running laps during halftime.

I’m going to just throw out that USA went from Garvin in the first half to that mobile QB there at the end. That kid was fast. It’s got to be tough for a defense to be effective against three different offenses in one game.

The defense was definitely gassed by that point because of the lack of offense. We saw that happen last year plenty of times.

I think that "fast" kid played exactly two downs, and had 74 yds rushing on those two plays. That's what Nitz said afterwards, he played just two downs. If true...and maybe ole Nitzer simply missed a few plays that "fast" kid was in, it's a damn good thing he only played two downs. Else we'd really be in trouble.

If the "fast kid" was Orth, he played the last couple of series.

Yes, that’s him. I seem to remember him coming in last year too and giving us fits for a few plays

Yes, Evan Orth had two carries for 74 yds, but was also 4/6 passing for 44 yards. So, obviously, he QBed for multiple plays.

Can't teach instinct and J'Mar doesn't have it. It's not Rattay or Holtz's fault. J'Mar just isn't good, and coaching isn't gonna change that.

That said, if Holtz doesn't make a QB change and keeps with the "we have no one better" excuse, then it's obvious he doesn't want to look stupid when the backup makes J'Mar look like a 3rd stringer.

    Huge conspiracy theory......just for fun.

Holtz will keep J’Mar as the starter. He feels like we can go 6-6 or 7-5 and have a chance to win another bowl. He knows the admin at Tech is good with mediocrity and he knows 7 wins will keep him here no matter what. If he wins 10 games, people will set that as the expectation or he will be hired by a bigger school that always expects that(or wants to expect that). He wants to retire in Ruston.

I agree. I don't know if he wants to retire here. But I do know that there's no other fanbase that will go to bat for MEDOCRITY like we do. And he knows it.

    Not the fanbase.

The fanbase will be down this year. We know mediocrity when we see it. Season ticket sales are way down. They were advertising three packs with concession for cheaper than season tickets the other day. (I felt screwed)

Now the administration is all in on mediocrity. We have it in ALL sports now. I think we are going for .500 across the board. completely and utterly average.

Dude.....it was ONE PLAY left!!! Are you telling me our defensive players were "too tired" to play just ONE MORE PLAY on 4th down and 2?? Oh Puleeze.

Skip Holtz already looks stupid as former LA Tech backup QB Jack Abraham is already lighting it up at USM, and will probably give us one of the biggest headaches of our lives later this season. Holtz might as well do the right thing and at least give Weston Elliott a look.
