Rice payouts are a washout with what they're gonna pay elessewe.
Otherwise, Tech SHOULD GET THE HIGHEST OF THESE PAYOUTS for one reason:
Our fans travel to this game better than any of the others. WE BUY TICKETS AND FILL THE SEATS OF OUR ALLOTMENT ( . . . and buy their conce$$ions). Plus we buy tickets on the secondary markets (Stubhub).
We should never apologize asking for the highest payout possible when compared to ALL G5s and many others.
Just like apparel comparisons around the state: Tech graduates have more money to spend than any other state institution grad except those with a degree from elessewe.

Maybe they factor in the likelihood of getting beat, and pay less for the higher risk. I mean these P5 home games, with their refs, are supposed to be guaranteed wins. They are "buy a win." Of course they pay FCS schools less, but they also have a sliding scale for those too.
So, in 2018, they have us and Rice. Rice is much more of that guaranteed win, so they are willing to pay more for it. If you are buying a "win" the more assured of actually getting it, the more you are willing to pay for it.
Either that or TMAC bowed down to the poosters with his best "we are not worthy" bit and accepted whatever they offered.
With this being a bye week, why can't HCSH prepare for this game like it is a bowl game? HE has the time. Who knows, this could be the closest thing to a bowl game that we get, but it just seems like HCSH does not take the LSU game, or any big OOC game seriously.
We have some games with some really crappy teams this year, why not try and make the most out of the OOC games, if prepare well for those the conference games should be no trouble.
Yeah, but with the LSU folks (grads and wannabees) who live in East Texas, especially the Houston area, Rice will enjoy it's best attendance in decades, and they'll make a killing. Probably a $million. So Rice is looking at $4.4 million vs. 3.5. That's just a $900K plus, but they have to be "banking" on some intangibles, like more interest in Rice football, more PR, etc...
Where did you read that this year's game was part of the next two? The contract I saw didn't mention the 2018 game.
The Rice AD was thinking out of the box.
