Realistically, how does this coaching staff prepare a game plan and practice for LSU? I'm having a hard time with even coming up with a motivational speech.

Tech cannot have any turnovers. Must be successful on 1st down, 2nd/3rd and long is a recipe for disaster. Receivers have to be able to separate from press coverage.
LSU does not turn the ball over - only 8 all of last year and none through 2 games this year. Have to put pressure on their QB.
Need to be +2 on TO’s
At least one BIG special teams play ( return, block, successful fake)
#45 needs to play the game of his life.
Try to figure out how to run enough to keep them honest
The last one will be the hardest.
“Okay, so I paid off the Raisin’ Canes guy. He is going to dump the polyethylene glycol in the tray of chicken the tiggers are eating during pregame. And we smeared Gorilla Glue in all their girdles so they can’t get them off to relieve themselves.”
Maybe we can keep it close.
I don't think the motivational speech will matter much either way. It will be interesting to see how we compete and execute. I suppose we'll prepare to counteract their tendencies and exploit their weaknesses. The rest is just football.
Have you considered those Dogs?
I watched the first few series of their last game.
We MUST WEATHER the storm their d line will bring at the beginning of the game. If we can somehow do that we may be able to find some success. They absolutely smothered the southeastern offense early in the game
Don’t turn the ball over. If the Defense is up to the task, LSU isn’t special on offense (so far) most of their scoring last week came with short field I believe.
This plays into Special Teams. No shanking punts, we need good coverage for those that are fielded.
Stay on offense as long as possible, keep our defense as fresh as we can for the full game. I think we will have the capability to move the ball on occasion, they aren’t perfect. We have to take advantage of any chance we are given. Oh! And Most importantly: Score!
Our history with P5 regular season games under Holtz is not in our favor. Add to that the fact that lsu is fielding one of their best teams (defense especially) in a long time and it is going to be an uphill climb. We can't be intimidated and our offense has to play almost perfect just to have a small chance.
Don't try to win it on offense. Our offense looked much better against Southern, but nobody lights up LSU. We have to win it on defense (which is so boring). Force turnovers, protect the ball. If we can out up 24 somehow we have a chance.
What...…..??? Did you say defense is boring?
May you sleep under a camel who has post-nasal drip!
Defense is beautiful, man! Defense is pure! Defense is righteous!
Defense is about...defending your turf. You're minding your own business and here come these offensive....see OFFENSIVE!, who likes offensive people? Nobody! Here come these offensive dudes trying to invade your end zone! Say what!? No way! not MY end zone you don't! You want me on that wall! You need me on that wall!
I need to go lay down..."defense is boring", he says. What has this world come to?
Defense has won a bunch of championships for a bunch of schools in recent memory. If we play well enough to score 24-28 and hold an opponent under that number, that is exciting!
When did everybody get glass half full? Winning with defense means we do not put up yardage or points. In other words, we are probably complaining about QB play or Holtz play calling. That what this game will be like. I expect us to not look great on offense regardless of the outcome.
Basically, our offense can't try to win it for us. They need to play conservative and hope for some turnovers on defense.
I’m just hoping for no major injuries. Everything else is a bonus. If we can run the ball at least somewhat, we have a slight chance. If we are one dimensional, we lose bigly. That and ST can’t have a SNAFU, and would be greatly helpful if they could make a big play now and then.
