That means today, September 22, will have equal daylight and darkness, 12 hours of each. It also means today is the first day of FALL! Bye bye to 100F days....er, eventually.
But today is another day...it's GAME DAY!! GO DAWGS!

Actually, in the interest of science, and getting it right. The exact 12 hrs each thing depends on the latitude of where you are. For the 30 degree latitude, which is pretty much north Louisiana, we will have 12 hrs 8 mins of daylight, 11 hrs 52 mins of darkness. Our REAL equinox will occur on September 28 this year.
We strive to post the real truth on the BB&B. Carry on!
But still, 8 mins or not..... GO DAWGS!!!
The equinox is when the sun's apparent path crosses the equator. I guess there are 12 hrs per night and day only at the equator at that time. I really didn't know that tib bit about the 12 hr thing but that does not change the equinox.
