LA Tech still needs a high quality win in 2018. UNT is currently 4-0, with lopsided wins over the following:
UNT 46, SMU 23
UNT 58, Incarnate Word 16
UNT 44, @ Arkansas 17
UNT 47, @ Liberty 7
UNT has a very strong passing game. The Mean Green have a 5'11, 185 lb Junior QB (Mason Fine) that is tearing it up. YTD, Mason Fine is 105 of 162 (64.8%) pass attempts for 1,328 yds and 10 TD's, against only 1 INT. He's averaging 346 yds per game in passing yds. However, remember that Fine only payed partial games against SMU and IW, due to the lopsided outcomes. Had he played full games, his stats would likely be even more padded.
Without this kid (Fine), UNT would be a very different ball club. He's a gamer. A scrapper. In basketball, they call a guy like this a "gym rat". He's everywhere on UNT's offense, and he's their heart and soul. And yes, Fine will tuck the ball and run it. And he won't finish his runs with an "electric slide" like J'Mar. Fine is probably the best QB LA Tech will face the rest of the year, Miss St included.
Fine does a great job of spreading his passes around, particularly to 4 quality receivers. These 4 talented receivers include Rico Bussey (24 catches for 303 yds), Jalen Guyton (18 catches for 282 yds), Jaelon Darden (17 catches for 243 yds) and Kelvin Smith (14 catches for 148 yds).
UNT's rush game is less intimidating, averaging only 165 yds per game. Considering the level of competition they've played so far, that's not very much.
UNT is a very dangerous team. So the Bulldogs need to show up early and often this Saturday in Denton.
