Jim Mora (UCLA) 6 seasons, 4 bowl games. 2 Top 25 finishes. 1 Pac 12 division title. 46-30 record. FIRED.
Jim McElwain (Florida) 2+ seasons, 2 bowl games. 2 Top 25 finishes. 2 SEC division titles. 22-12 record. FIRED
Les Miles (LSU) 11+ seasons, 11 bowl games. 1 national championship, 1 national championship loss. 9 Top 25 finishes. 5 Top 10 finishes. 114-34 record. FIRED.
Mark Richt (Georgia) 15 seasons, 15 bowl games. 12 Top 25 finishes. 8 Top 10 finishes. 2 SEC titles. 4 other SEC East titles. 145-51 record. FIRED.

Every one of these guys achieved way more than Skip has at Tech. All of them had a higher winning percentage than Holtz has at Tech. They all coached multiple ranked teams. 2 of them won multiple conference championships. Yet they all got fired. Why? Because it was believed that none of them could take the team to the next level, even though we have national and conference championship winners in that group. Once you feel your guy cannot take you to the next level you have to think about making a change, it happens all the time. If we are not champsions this year it is time too make a change.
The financial supporters of the program wanted and expected more...we are a divided group with a large group of people comfortable with where we are....

Are there G5 coaches in a similar spot?

I don't expect him to be fired. I expect him to be held to a higher standard by his bosses though. Losing these home games in the fashion he loses them in is inexcusable. He is underachieving in a huge way. No way a 5th year HC in C-USA should ever lose 6 games.

Pat Hill comes to mind. You remember his record at Fresno, huh? I'm sure there are others I will think about it and get back with you.

So he is underachieving but it is not egregious enough to be fired....Holtz is who he is....he will seldom overachieve. I think his history proves it....is that enough?

Very mediocre in a terrible conference. Making lower, level bowl games, even though the majority of teams make bowl games now. Gotcha.

I've said dozens of times he will not (should not) be fired. If our dumb ass AD knew how to structure a contract...

Yes. Dykes got a mediocre QB drafted. He could develop talent. And didn't he pull his starting QB for a backup? I can't remember how that Isham thing went down.

All we do is make fair catches.

Depends on how far back you want to move the goal posts. Before 2001 it was 1984. That's 2 in 33 years. But did you know, Tech has 25 total conference titles? That ranks us 12th out of 130 FBS schools. Aillet and Lambright won them like nobody's business.

Don't know what that even is. What we should be doing is running the table and be competing with UCF and Boise (to a lesser degree) to be the first non P5 school to crack the playoff.

All the coaches listed above performed way better than Holtz and they got fired because those schools wanted to win more. In many industries people who underachieve in their jobs ge fired.

    .

Yes, they do, when the investors demand more...the executives make changes or get fired....

Re: It’s time. What will it cost?

We lost to LSU, will most likely lose to MS. State... what happens if we win those games? I know it’s crazy talk....but we used to play 2-3 money games and play in the WAC and MWC....We dreamed of CUSA...we got it, just a watered down version.
