The prep is bad, the scope nothing to it and what they use leaves you feeling good . So do it just before game and it will be painless!
Sorry to say yes, no need to go into specifics.
A casual observation from watching the Saints’ game, I haven’t seen them run that slow developing read option run or whatever it’s actually called not once. I think they call a predetermined hole, the line blocks to open that hole, the runner runs towards that hole and the QB hands him the ball, period. Most times about 4-5 yards later the runner is tackled. Funny, it seems to work just fine. Maybe Tech should try that.
Monkey see...monkey do. I would love to see an offense that was original...incorporated the best of all strategies. Would require a coach that has some creativity and doesn’t mind pushing the boundaries.
The sad thing is the read play will work, if the QB actually reads the unblocked defender which is usually the DE. However, if you’re just going to walk over and hand the ball off and not read the defender, he will be in the RB’s grill as soon as the ball is there, sometimes before. Smith never keeps it, so they already know who is getting it and where. So you essentially take the “option” out of an option play. It would be just like the QB running a triple option with just a FB.
Okay, I'ma say it. The OL was the main reason for the terrible offensive performance Saturday. Yea Qb/wr play was terrible, same with play calling, but the OL apparently forgot how to block. J'Mar was running for his life all night. Can't do much with that
