    Re: Week 7

BTW, on Yahoo.com's News page, er "News" since it's mostly lefty propaganda, on the side bar an ad To Buy Tickets for the big UNT at UAB game has been running for weeks. Just now, I noted both slots had the same ad, October 20, buy your tickets...

Kudos to whomever (whoever?) took the initiative to have this ad run. Probably CUSA's Conference home office is paying for it, but still....

CONFERENCE USA FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME HOSTING CRITERIA
The teams with the highest regular season winning percentage based on overall Conference USA play are regular-season division champions and meet for the Conference Championship at the site of the team with the best regular-season Conference record. The following tie-breaker formula is used for the Conference USA Football Championship game:

    Two-team tie to determine host
    1. Highest regular season winning percentage based on overall Conference USA play.
    2. If tied, head to head between tied teams.
    3. If still tied, team with the highest College Football Playoff (CFP) ranking going into final weekend of regular season and wins.
    4. If still tied, highest average computer ranking.

Two-team or multiple team tie for divisional champion
[Principle: If at any point the tie is broken in a multiple team tie, the remaining teams will begin the process again at #2.]
    1. Highest regular season winning percentage based on overall Conference USA play.
    2. If tied, head to head between tied teams.
    3. If still tied, highest winning percentage within division.
    4. If still tied, compare records against divisional opponents in descending order of finish.
    5. If still tied, compare records with common cross-divisional opponents.
    6. If still tied, compare records against cross-divisional opponents in descending order of finish.
    7. If still tied, team with highest CFP ranking.
    8. If still tied, the representative will be the team that has not participated in the championship game most recently.

    Re: Week 7

We don't want the computer scenario (unless we beat MS State). We need us & UNT to win out and UAB to lose 2.
    North Texas CUSA 6-1 50
    UAB CUSA 5-1 57
    Louisiana Tech CUSA 4-2 64
    Marshall CUSA 4-2 72
    Florida Intl CUSA 4-2 77
    MTSU CUSA 3-3 79
    FL Atlantic CUSA 3-3 81
    Southern Miss CUSA 2-3 101
    Charlotte CUSA 3-3 115
UT San Antonio CUSA 3-4 118
    WKU CUSA 1-5 121
    Old Dominion CUSA 1-6 122
    Rice CUSA 1-6 128
    UTEP CUSA 0-6 130

The only reason we would want the Comp tie breaker is if we win out, at 10-2.

If you are referring to No. 7 - the CFP ranking - I don't believe this is a computer scenario. This is if one or more schools is ranked by the Playoff Committee in its ranking at the end of the regular season. At the same time, I've seen bad or incomplete information on CUSA's website in the past.

In that scenario, if Tech were to win out it means we've beaten Mississippi State. A 10-2 Tech team with a Top 25 win and an impressive loss to a Top 10 LSU would almost certainly get us ranked at season's end by the Committee. But that means Mississippi State and LSU both have to keep playing good football.

    Re: Week 7

If there is a 3-way tie at 7-1, tiebreakers 1-7 almost certainly won't resolve the tie. I don't see Tech or any other C-USA team in the CFP rankings that will be released on November 20, the last rankings that will be available before a tie would have to be broken.

So since Tech and North Texas have played in recent championship games, UAB would win tiebreaker #8.

I was confusing hosting tiebreaker with division tiebreaker. The best scenario for us is to win out and pray for UAB to lose 2x

I’d be very surprised if Tech finishes with only 1 conference loss. The most likely loss IMO is FAU.

Me too. Can't go soft stepping into Boca Raton or Hattiesburg. I could see us losing one or both.
    Have you considered those Dogs?
