So we are mediocre as most on this board have stated.
I hope we're in a bowl this year! The alternative is simply unacceptable. And once in a bowl I hope we win it! Again, I don't like the alternative. But, that will leave us at 8-5, most likely. And even while winning a 5th straight bowl is an accomplishment, and depending on what Utah, Georgia, and Wisconsin do in their bowls, we might be the last one standing on a 5-bowl winning streak, then...what?. Okay...fine. Many will rejoice and celebrate. The Sunshine Pumpers will post, see! Tech stands alone at the top of the bowl-winning hill. Thank you Coach Holtz! And all you naysayers should be ashamed.
First, look at who teams like UGA, Utah, and others play in their bowls, versus who we play. There are no lousy SMUs or Belch champions on their list. But, that aside, is being one of 80 teams to bowl, and winning a minor bowl, the best we can ever expect? Well, no, because some of us EXPECT more!
8-5 and winning a minor bowl should be the results in a hiccup year. One when we are truly rebuilding, after a GREAT year, or maybe one when the injury bug took a toll. In other words, 8-5 should be the floor....not the ceiling!
The board says I can’t give TOM reputation again so soon...
He deserves it. I had a GREAT time at the bowl last year, but frankly after our 2-4 WTF games a year, we are always set up to win our bowl games. IF our team performed to it’s ability, we probably don’t have a bowl streak to defend because we are consistently playing in better bowls against better teams.
I did it for you .
Man, how much has football changed when averaging 413 yards a game means you're an average team in a low-tier conference. 20 years ago that would make you one of the top 30 teams. Today you're barely in the top 60.
Also, looking back at 1998 stats, that was when Tim and Troy were leading the country in passing and receiving yards and TDs.
*Sigh*
