Yes, it's only an hour away from Ruston, but if Tech is involved in the IBowl it allows the university another great marketing chance in S-BC to push our CyberTech emphasis and involvement with the Bossier City campus during a dead time of the year.

(PS-Dr. Guice having a couple of 2-star generals and their support staff from Barksdale at Ruston games like last week is not bad PR either.)

The last four years we've built tremendous PR for ourselves in Dallas, New Orleans, Ft. Worth and Frisco.

Yep! 'cept they're one of those option teams. We can't depend on out-scoring 'em, like we did #25 Navy in Ft. Worth. So, our D will have to find a way to slow 'em down.

FAU couldn't get past UNT last night, but have Charlotte as there last game. If Charlotte upsets FIU, then FAU/FIU will be winner takes all game.

There were rumors that VA Tech would play Marshall or USM on December 1. USM has apparently said they are playing a 12th game.

71 teams have qualified and 34 are out. That leaves 24 teams still chasing win #6.

There are three winner in-loser out games with Purdue at Indiana, Texas Tech vs Baylor in Arlington, and Vanderbilt vs Tennessee.

The 24 teams still trying to qualify are broken down this way (teams/projected to qualify):
    AAC (2/2)--SMU, Tulane
ACC (3/0)--Florida State, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech
Big 12 (4/1)--Texas Tech or Baylor, Kansas State, TCU
Big Ten (4/1)--Purdue or Indiana, Maryland, Minnesota
    C-USA (2/2)--FAU, USM
    MAC (2/1)--Miami (OH), Akron
    MWC (1/1)--Wyoming
    Pac 12 (3/0)--Arizona, Colorado, USC
    SEC (2/1)--Vanderbilt or Tennessee
    SBC (1/1)--Coastal Carolina

81 teams are projected to qualify, so three teams from the G5 group would be the ones left at home.
    P5 (41)--ACC 9, Big 12 6, Big Ten 8, Pac 12 7, SEC 11
    G5 (37)--AAC 8, C-USA 8, MAC 7, MWC 7, SBC 7
    Independents (3)

Am I correct in thinking that all 7-5 teams are guaranteed a bowl spot before 6-6 teams get placed into bowls?

6-6 teams are as "bowl qualified" as 7-6 teams. Naturally the Indy Bowl would take a pair of 6-6 ACC/SEC teams over a pair of 7-6 C-USA/Sunbelt teams.

Also, remember that time the Liberty Bowl passed over an 8-3 team for a 6-6 Iowa State?

You may be thinking about the 5-6 vs. 7-6 thing or that some conferences like C-USA make sure 7 win teams are placed over 6 win teams.

Never take anything for granted with the P5 Cartel........... I do think our tie-ins will get us in, though. We need to win this next game to leave no doubt about it, though.

I know at least CUSA and the Sun Belt have this rule for their own bowl tie ins. 7-5 teams go before 6-6 teams. The winner of the ULM-ULL game will go bowling with 7 wins, while the loser of that game will likely stay home with 6 wins.

The Sun Belt announced on Saturday that its champion will be going to the New Orleans Bowl. It's all speculation at this point, but the Belt runner-up will likely head to the Dollar General. The third place team, especially if it's out of the east will likely head to the Cure.

Dollar General? Cure? 967 needs to pull this stuff together for entertainment purposes. There are so many “unique” names for bowl destinations these days.

Does anyone know if a 6-5 team would be higher in the pecking order than a 6-6 team? We of course have to win our last game against UTEP, but I sure how the 6-5 vs. 6-6 thing works. I just want any bowl game at this point. I would prefer the New Orleans Bowl. Easy drive and it is on a Saturday.

Don’t think it matters to the bowls. The conference will try to accommodate the fans of each school, which means that you have a pretty good shot at NOLA

No higher in the pecking order for being 6-5 than being 6-6. We faced this last year with UTSA and Tech. Tech was 6-6, while UTSA was 6-5 after having a week 1 game with Houston cancelled.. UTSA was not given preference over Tech. Tech went bowling. UTSA did not.

At the same time, USM is going bowling with 6 wins. CUSA has the agreements in place to make that happen.

And Coastal Carolina would be another SBC team likely to get left out along with one MAC team if 81 teams do become qualified.
