What's wrong with Red Skelton? He was funny, without being rude and vulgar.
Who asked this? I don't think any reporter has asked him if he's considered a change at QB yet. I've listened to most but not all press conferences. Any body know if this question has been asked?
Embarrassing reporting if it hasn't been asked. It's what every Tech fan is talking about and is a 100% legitimate question.
Dietrich has asked him about the QB situation indirectly. Every time it has been answered with the excuses we've heard all year. Somebody, Nick Brown I think, pointed out that JMar seems to do better when we run a fast paced offense. It was more of a comment than a question. Holtz agreed then said that we have to slow it down because we risk turnovers when we play fast paced.
Here are the touchdown totals made by J'Mar. Which games used fast paced offenses? Can't be the last 7 games.
Opponent TD Pass TD Run TD Total Southern Miss. 1 0 1 Rice 1 0 1 Miss. State 0 0 0 FAU 1 0 1 UTEP 1 1 2 UTSA 1 0 1 UAB 0 0 0 North Texas 2 0 2 LSU 3 0 3 Southern 2 1 3 South Alabama 2 0 2 Total 14 2 16
And this is the best we have ? I don't think so . Elliott, Allen or Cox can't be any worse . The problem is perceived turnovers with them . I love the deep ball so I would be rotating Smith with Cox and if he couldn't get it done the others until in game conditions i knew for sure no one was better . Then I would know if I needed a transfer of juco quarterback for next year .
The really sad thing is no one bothers to ask him about stuff he says earlier in the season. I mean Skip says he is holding Westin Elliot till later in the season so he can red shirt and still play 4 games, AND NOBODY ever mentions it again. It's not asked by another reporter, not commented on by BTB radio, not mentioned on Fletcher's show. It's like his previous statements don't exist.
I know Nick the sideline reporter who works the games with Dave and Teddy asked HC this question specifically right after the UAB loss. It was something like "Coach, do you think changing QBs would have helped?". HC: Nah, changing the QBs would not have helped." Pretty sure he went on to blame the OL and the Defense.
Either he (shockingly) just did not see the issue, or there are issues in his head where he is in denial. Either way, same result. Unless injury (certainly don't wont this for any of our guys), transfer/quit, JMar = QB1. Would not be surprised if HC wants to retire #8. .
Heck, maybe that's the new double entendre hashtag......#retire8
You are correct. I suspect most reporters have forgotten about what he said when he was asked why Elliot did not go in the game. Elliot was actually in a walking boot the next week so some, like me, suspected Holtz was just covering up. Although it did make sense if he was actually planning to play Elliot in ANY of the last 4 games, we know now that it was all BS. He still has two games to play and still keep his redshirt so the question still remains. It's not likely Holtz will do the radio shows next week, but if he does I think he will be asked about it.
