    Predictable

If you want a glaring example of how we've become boring on Offense, just look at the first plays on each drive.
    1. 1st and 10 at LATECH25 DANCY, Jaqwis rush for 2 yards to the LATECH27 (RICHARDSON, C.)
    2. 1st and 10 at UTEP48 TUCKER, Israel rush for 2 yards to the UTEP46 (HOTCHKINS, A.J.)
    3. 1st and 10 at LATECH25 DANCY, Jaqwis rush for 45 yards to the UTEP30, 1ST DOWN LATECH (NEEDHAM, Nik)
    4. 1st and 10 at LATECH38 SMITH, J'Mar pass complete to VEAL, Teddy for 12 yards to the 50 yardline, 1ST DOWN LATECH (NEEDHAM, Nik;SMITH, Kahani)
    5. 1st and 10 at LATECH23 DANCY, Jaqwis rush for 2 yards to the LATECH25 (SMITH, Kahani)
    6. 1st and 10 at UTEP40 SMITH, J'Mar pass complete to DANCY, Jaqwis for no gain to the UTEP40 (SMITH, Kahani)
    7. 1st and 10 at LATECH20 MCKNIGHT, K. rush for 7 yards to the LATECH27 (SMITH, Kahani)
    8. 1st and 10 at LATECH25 DANCY, Jaqwis rush for no gain to the LATECH25 (CHUKWUKELU, D.;SMITH, Kahani)
    9. 1st and 10 at UTEP46 TUCKER, Israel rush for 4 yards to the UTEP42 (HOTCHKINS, A.J.)
    10. 1st and 10 at LATECH20 SMITH, J'Mar pass complete to TUCKER, Israel for 1 yard to the LATECH21 (NEEDHAM, Nik;FORESTER,S.)
    11. 1st and 10 at LATECH22 TUCKER, Israel rush for loss of 2 yards to the LATECH20 (RICHARDSON, C.;TUPOU, Sione)
    12. 1st and 10 at LATECH19 MCKNIGHT, K. rush for 5 yards to the LATECH24 (MASCORRO, Trace;FORESTER,S.)
9 Read/Option dives. 2 passes behind the line to RB's. 1 forward pass. 0-7 UTEP started getting 2-3 players in the backfield each 1st down play. I was able to point that out to JAB during the game.

Also, J'mar has to take the drag when it's open. AT LEAST 2, if not 3 of the sacks he took, he had Veal or Hardy on a drag route open, but he held the ball waiting for the big play to open up. Make the accurate throw and see if your playmakers can make someone miss get a big play. It was there several times and he wouldn't take it. Late in the 4th, those WR's running the drags were just jogging knowing they weren't getting the ball. THAT'S ON THEM, but J'mar HAS to take those when they are there. This isn't the rodeo where the point is to hang on for 8 seconds to get a win.

I noticed this, too. Not just the sacks but throwing it out of bounds. It's like he doesn't even see them. These weren't real short ones either. I'm talking about 10-15 yards as opposed to the home run he was trying.

    Re: Predictable

This was talked about on the postgame show on Saturday night. And it was being discussed in the stands throughout the game. We have a battered offensive line. How much of it is being caused by the system we're trying to run along with predictable play calling?

UTEP's defensive line was just pinning their ears back, especially on 1st down, heading directly for the RPO handoff point. By the 4th quarter, they were often blowing up our experienced line. When the score was tied at 24 in the 4th quarter we ran the RPO on first down, and it was blown up. There was so much anger in the stands I thought a couple of people around me, both former players, were going to head to the sideline.

We ran one misdirection play the entire game - the J'Mar 4th quarter touchdown. We never ran any type of tempo, even if it was just to keep UTEP on their heels for a few plays. No jet sweeps. No quick tosses.

I can't imagine what it's like to play on the O line in a game like that.

Great point. The UTEP defense ran straight at our OL for 70 or 80 plays. No hesitancy on their part, because we gave them no reason to hesitate.

The Holtz excuse mantra this week is that it is our OLine's fault. Injuries you know. He has NEVER pointed to the fact that our QB will not run the ball when he needs to. Why? It makes him look bad as a QB developing coach.

Perhaps it is because he doesn’t see it as an issue. Because he doesn’t tell him to run.

He knows the offense. It is a creation of his and Fitch's. It REQUIRES a run option and we have only used it approximately 6 times this year.

Once in the second half J'Mar rolled out to his right and he had enough open space between him and his possible downfield target that Monroe Regional Airport cleared a flight to land in it. He just stood there looking and the 10 year old girl sitting in front of us asked her daddy "why is he not running?".

Well now we HAVE to run that Dive play into the Guard 30 times to set up the 4th down Bootleg!!

Noticed we went back to "hand clapping" to start the play instead of voice call. How can you draw and offside or change the rhythm of the rush without using voice inflections, hell at least clap twice instead of once.... Mind you we were at home with a crowd as quiet as a church service and we are clapping hands to start the play... smh

I did notice Saturday that Jmar faked a clap and drew an offside penalty, so there's that.
