I’m with Blue, why bother going?
It's Tuesday in Game Week. It's the day "hope springs eternal."
Moo State is good. We know that. They are one of the best 2, or best 3, given UAB is actually as good as they appear to be, we will play this year. Their strength is defense, which I think is actually, talent-wise, the best defense we will see this year. Better than LSU's and better than UAB's. Moo State's problems have been on the offensive side. In the LSU game, which they lost 19-3, their D stymied LSU, but they got no help from their offense, and the D was constantly put in a predicament, and eventually wore down.
So, no, I don't expect our unimaginative offense to somehow overcome State's defense and win this game. Yes, it would be nice for us to try on offense...a little. Some new wrinkles. Something different. Something none of us have seen before out of Holtz. But, alas, this is Holtz, so perish that thought. The best we can hope for...and I hate to say this...is business as usual from Holtz/Smith on offense. No turnovers....no 90-yard fumbles....no bonehead plays on offense, or in special teams. The offense has to make some plays, yes. Can't afford a bunch of 3 and outs, or even a great effort from our D will not pay off, they will wear down. Can't miss FGs. Can't have lousy 20 yard punts.
Defense. Really simple, to spring the upset we need the Frisco defense to show up. A couple of defensive TDs, forcing turnovers to set up our offense, and a turnover to thwart a State scoring drive will be enough for us to win this game. State is pathetic on offense. Their best weapon, almost their only weapon, is Fitz's running. He's horrible as a pocket passer. Need a spy, or spies, on him every play. Do NOT let him beat us with his running. Even if that means he enjoys more success thru the air, that's a tradeoff we need to make.
Do not blitz! That will force him out of the pocket and then it's all bets off. Nope! contain him. Keep him in the pocket. Led by Ferguson our DL is good enough to get some pressure on him when in the pocket. Let that be enough. CONTAIN HIM!
IF all of that happens, it will be a close, competitive, defensive battle in the 4th qtr. Then we'll have our "puncher's chance" to pull it out.
I'd take Miss State at 20.5 points. No way this one is even close. We're gonna get cremated.
“Towie Barclay of the Glen, Happy to the maids, But never to the men.”
J'Mar freaks out because he can't have his 6+ seconds in the pocket. We get creamed. 45-10
Not even close. MSU blitzes relentlessly, knowing Tech's QB cannot read the blitz and doesn't know the hot routes or can't figure them out quickly enough.
Gonna be brutal. Remember last time, their coach will not let up.
I hope Skip won’t get our Rbs “killed” with his Qb draw plays
As long as we havent had it circled on our calendar.
