I also read we broke Wichita’s 22 straight home opener win streak.

That was one BEAUTIFUL ugly win! Neither team could hit a FT to save their life. Turnovers all over the place. And, it's a brand new, very young Wichita State team that will likely not finish .500 this year. Still... if you know anything about college basketball, Wichita State is a traditional power with a storied history. So, this win will look good in the record books 10 years from now.

And, the most important thing is, I'd rather win ugly than lose ugly.

The most important thing I saw was the team buckling down and pushing through while the refs tried desperately and transparently to keep WSU's streak alive. That is valuable experience for a CUSA team to have.

Lots to be pleased with tonight. We missed a good number of shots it seemed, had trouble finishing and holding onto the ball, but overall things that can be cleaned up. For now, I feel good.

GREAT first game! We looked better than I thought we would. Wichita State may be down some this year, but we showed we are going to be no pushover for anyone. Ugly at times, but got it done!

This was a game we won because of team enthusiasm and intangibles. We were scrappy, played sharp and had the heart to keep playing when WSU put together runs.

Last year we lose this game. Really proud of the players and the coaches! It was a team win!
