About half dozen tornadoes swept thru Natchitoches Parish late yesterday afternoon. One passed less than a mile south from us, and two passed within 2 miles of us to the north. At the moment they were passing, we didn't even have a stiff breeze at our house. We had heavy rain, and thunder/lightning popping, but no wind at all. Kind of strange.
Based on early reports, no one was hurt and appears to be minimal property damage. The twisters stuck to the open fields of the big farms around here, mostly.
Have a friend and business associate who lost everything the other day when a tornado hit the Tioga-Pollock area. And, I haven't heard from another friend who lives in a neat house in the middle of the forest near Pollock. If he or his wife don't respond to my phone calls, text messages today, gonna drive out to check on 'em.
