A couple of big time jobs could become open soon. Odds are USC fires Helton. Also, could Urban Myers' health force him to leave his dream job? He once left Florida saying it was a health issue, only to resurface at OSU a tear later. Of course, he knew the talent level was about to drop way off.

“Among the coaches we hear have been discussed at the highest levels in West Lafayette are: Neal Brown, Butch Jones, Skip Holtz, Tony Elliott, Matt Canada and Mike Norvell.“

It’s on in case Brohm heads to Louisville from Pardue

Wow! I cannot understand how Purdue thinks Skip would be successful coaching in the Big 10. Knowing Skip's record playing against the big boys and his track record in the Big East. Of course, I didn't think Tennessee would hire Dooley. I think Mayland will try to look up Canada very quickly. The job he did there this year is remarkable.

Hmmm... They have a picture of Skip Holtz in this article from 4 days ago. Are the winds changing?

"Former USF coach Skip Holtz is doing well at Louisiana Tech ... which might have him in line for a promotion? [ AP PHOTO ]"

Hot seat watch, coaches in contention to move up, Jimbo Fisher flashback and more college football notes

We've got a young up and coming AD that has done wonders here. Wonder if we could get a 2 for 1 deal ?

    Re: Head Football Coach Vacancies

    A promotion? Eff them!

Just because some schools, thru no credit to them, have more money than sense that doesn't represent a "promotion" in my book. Programs like Kansas, Illinois (we are 2-0 vs. dem chumps), Indiana, Vandy, and some others just ride the coattails of others raking in unearned paychecks. They never win. They are cesspools of football teams...on the field....with nice facilities paid for by others. And it's exactly where a mediocre coach like a Les Miles and a Skip Holtz belong.

Louisiana Tech is for winners! Real winners, young men like Boston Scott who overcome hardship and succeed. Players who were passed over by others, not recruited, like Trent Taylor, but succeed! And that list goes on. And it has been, and should be, where coaches can develop their skills and become even better coaches. That's the ingredient in Tech Football that has been missing some....recently. "Precious" is full of chit referring to Tech as a dead end job. What a jerk! And his own track record proves it.

Skip Holtz inherited a program in good standing. Yeah, the cupboard was a little bare in the wake of Dykes' recruiting philosophy, but only a little. The foundation was here. More importantly, because of Dykes, the Tech brand was well known and respected. Skip Holtz was handed a golden opportunity to build on that foundation. And, he has....to a point. But instead of a shining tower on a hill, he has built a two-story condo with some nice amenities. It's stable though....

If this is it, if this is as good as it will get, it is time for Holtz to move on, both for our sake, and for his.

That was because of his predecessor, Derek Dooley. Sonny Dykes and Bruce Van De Velde (not Oakes as I originally said) embarrassed us with that no bowl fiasco, and Dykes going to Cal had everything to do with it. I wish we could get Dooley back as Athletic Director.
