In reality, this is what it will take....outside of our admin actually promoting it.

A conference championship game, on a blue bird 70 degree day in December, with a moratorium on deer hunting because of an outbreak of CWD. And Tech is either playing for or already has 10 wins.

Number all stadium tickets as reserved seating, eliminate general admission seating and be fully accountable.

    That'd be a start of what's a "sellout."

Currently West side section II is $36 adult

Section KK on the east side is $21 adult.

These are walk up prices for the 4th game of the season. They should be $10 for either side.

We will never know the true attendance because SEZ and Press Box seating is used to pad the figures our AD needs to make things look respectable.

    Re: What would it take?

Getting rid of General Admission would be a huge mistake. If we ever...yeah, right....get to a point where JAS is busting at the seams, then we can designate two sections, lower east side, between the 40's, as GA. There are still numbers on the seats, so we can either have just that number of GA tix for any one game, and when they're gone, they're gone. Or! just sell as many GA tix as there's demand. When we've had great attendance by students, and by we eastsider crazies, we've put MORE fans in those sections than there are designated seats. Several games, I'd estimate those sections were at 125% at least. Because everyone stands, it's easy to squeeze 'em in.

    And since we're dreaming....

I hope to see some type of enclosure in the NEZ and those can be designated "cheap seats" like $5 each, and would be ideal for hosting high school bands, Scout Troops, Church groups, family reunions, etc...

Aerosmith tune just popped into my mind. Ya know...

Getting a little more coverage in the local papers about our game. The Houston Chronicle has run lenghthy articles about Rice all week. A 1-9 team. Even with UH, TAMU and the state Flagship University, they seem to have room to cover Rice. The Times/Morning News (or whatever the Monroe paper's name is) only have multiple stories about LSU. I have an old Times from game day against OK. State and they dedicated whole pages dedicated to the game. I remember an article about Ryan Moats taking a whole page. Was that before the ownership change?

About the only paper with a decent following in Louisiana is the Advocate. Nobody reads the Time or TNS now. Our Admin is wasting money with the "in kind" deals we have with them. We should cut them off completely. Let them focus on Grambling and ulm. Then watch their clicks go down even more. I don't know why we feel the need to support them.

    Re: What would it take?

I can’t remember the last time I read the Monroe paper. It’s been several years. Speaking realistically, our best chance for a sellout is (A) conference championship game with an Access Bowl spot on the line or (B) a game against ULM or ULL, provided that the game is in September and they have been playing winning football, and their fans think they have a good chance of winning.

Both of those scenarios are full of problems. (A) CUSA is so weak at this point and time, we’d have to run the table with a couple of P5 wins to even have a chance at it. Holtz doesn’t care about P5 wins, so that ones a pipe dream. (B) Either opponent is more likely to be down than up when we play them. As someone else has already mentioned, the average North Louisiana resident isn’t going to pay what we’re asking for tickets. We need to set aside a large number of tickets for GA, say 5000, and sell them for $10-$12/piece. The marketing of the game needs to start as soon as Fall camp begins. Of the 2 schools, I think we have a better shot at pulling it off with ULM. It’s been a long time since we’ve played, and ULL fans won’t travel to Ruston this soon after two embarrassing losses so fresh on their minds.

You know we aren’t allowed to reference great rock bands and connect them with anything about Tech a football. It’s rap or nothing.
