I think it's gonna be some ugly football tomorrow. Two underperforming offenses vs. two solid D's. If we can protect the ball and turn them over, we should win.

Last season, Tech was up 27-16 with 1:30 to go and Southern Miss rallied to force the game to overtime where Louisiana Tech quarterback J’Mar Smith as well as his counterpart Keon Howard threw interceptions to send the game to a second overtime. Howard hit Korey Robertson on the first play of double overtime and Tech’s offense stalled on the ensuing possession to seal the 34-27 loss.

Louisiana Tech was riding a sevengame win streak and had already locked a league title game berth going into the Rivalry in Dixie showdown in Hattiesburg. The Bulldog offense was lighting itup, scoring 50 points per game in their win streak, but the Golden Eagles held them to just seven points in the second half and pulled away, 39-24.
In 2015, Tech had the inside lane to win the West, sitting 6-1 in league play and had won four straight where defense had given up just 15 points during that stretch leading up to hosting USM in Ruston. The Golden Eagles didn’t care, exploding for 58 points to overpower Tech 58-24 and knocking it out of the championship game.
