They’re defense is apparently great at creating turnovers. As mentioned above, they stayed with UAB due to turnovers and in their win against Marshall they had 4 turnovers.

That was no spin. That was just something you are not familiar with.....FACTS!!
- Last Saturday, USM did generate only 165 yds of offense against UAB. Where's the spin in that?
- Last Saturday, USM FRESHMAN QB Whatley did complete only 42% of his passes totaling 160 yds, against UAB. Where's the spin in that?
- Last Saturday, USM's run game netted only 5 total yards against UAB. Where's the spin in that?
- Last Saturday, USM did "stay in the game" against UAB by picking off 3 INT's. Where's the spin in that?
I've been telling you all year that USM's OL is awful, and that's one BIG reason for Jack Abraham's struggles. That said, if you like J'Mar's QB play, you better pray that Abraham doesn't get to play against us, because Abraham and JMar are mirror images of each other statistically. Abraham has passed for 2,060 yds in 8 games, for a 257 yds per game average and has a QB rating of 43.8 this season. That passing average is better than J'Mar's average per game of 235 yds passing. J'Mar has a slightly better QB Rating of 46.8.
Abraham has thrown 13 TD passes vs 10 INT's (8 games) while J'Mar has thrown 13 TD passes and 8 INT's (10 games).
J'Mar is just fortunate to be surrounded by much better players at LA Tech than Abraham is at USM.
So, Tech vs. USM is a battle of crappy QBs and horrible offenses, both teams with decent to pretty good defenses. Hmmm.. Presuming the Ds don't score via pick-6s or fumble returns, then first team to 17 wins!
Given the stats and the quality of the teams, strengths and weaknesses, if this was any other opponent I would pick Tech to win. But, this is USM. They are Holtz's daddy.
Even though our offense has not been great all year, it has been worse the last few games. I just hope that we can return to "decent" offense and surprise us. I have some nice plays, amidst the horrible ones. If something would just click, we could pull this one out. Signed "as much sunshine as I can pump right now".
I think we have had all the clicking we are going to get from J'Mar. He my be a nice young man, but he is a bad QB, with a horrible game plan being called. Whether its being called because he is so bad or he is so bad and its complicated with bad play calling I don't know. Throw on the fact that teams now have plenty of tape to figure out his one or two positive plays and traits and it is what it is for the rest of his tenure.
Rice is a great example. The started the game daring him to throw it, the reason we beat this is we simply had more talent that made a few palys. If they were a little better they beat us.
Yes, our offensive line is terrible. This hurts our running game and pass protection. The defense is great, but they can only hold teams for so long without some production from our offense. Jack got hurt and Whatley played well replacing him, but he doesn't know the playbook yet and doesn't have Jack's accuracy. We will lose if Whatley starts, but have a chance if Jack gets the nod.
This one's a toss up. Both teams struggling offensively and both defenses playing fairly well. I think it comes down to turnovers and special teams. Dont expect either team to eclipse 25 pts and if our QB feels pressured most of the game then he will melt and our offense will max-out around 17-21 pts.
We are perhaps the most unimpressive 7-3 team in college football so I have little confidence going into this game.
"unimpressive 7-3 team"
Yep, that summarizes it. I won't call us the "worst 7-3 team in America" because I haven't evaluated the other 7-3 teams. We do have a decent defense, and some talent on offense. So, maybe we ain't the worst, but we sure as heck are unimpressive.
Get that coach speak bull crap outta here. Holtz can only beat USM teams that are dead. This years USM team is on life support, so that’s good enough for the W. I can promise you Holtz already has his 3 paragraph Monday depresser speech typed up and ready.
Seriously, we nearly lost to UTEP, and were only marginally better against Rice. We are totally lost on offense. If you can’t beat us at home, you should probably drop to FCS. We will find a way to lose this game, you can count on it.
We played UTEP and Rice about the same as North Texas did. Poorly. Close against UTEP. Pulled away in the second against Rice. Idk what will happen this week but I hope they get the W.
I have evaluated them.
For shits and giggles:
Dunno why UNT is so high. \shrug

Law of averages favors LT in this one. Sooner or later you gotta take one.
