Interesting document I have never seen this before. As far as UCF's national championship are you referencing the Colley Matrix? Which is fine except the national championship is decided on the field, not by a computer.

The NCAA doesn't sanction or supervise the college football playoff. So, they can approve any team as national champions, but it doesn't mean anything.

On that CFB blog, the P5 fans are always bashing UCF. Of course, you'd expect that. And it's comical because they bash each other too, which gives UCF supporters...and those of us on-lookers who just like to stir the pot ….ammo to bash them back! Ohio State barely escaped unranked Maryland, got CRUSHED by Purdue who is 4-6, and barely beat a crappy Nebraska team, yet! they are saying if OSU beats Mich and then NW, they deserve a CFP spot over a 13-0 UCF. If UCF had escaped a lousy Maryland 52-51 even though the QB missed a wide-open receiver, that board would be exploding with, See! UCF sucks!

They bash the heck out of Oklahoma for having no defense....55-40 over Kansas, really??? SEC fans bash all other conferences, and all other conferences bash the SEC, but they all circle the wagons and defend each other against the UCF interlopers. It's all silly anyway. There is NO true national championship for CFB. It is still mythical.
There are several flaws in your thinking. First, there absolutely is a true national champion in football. There is a tournament played with the winner of the tournament being the national champion. The football championship game is watched by about twice the audience of the national championship game in basketball, I can’t believe you never seen or heard of this.

As far as Ohio State goes, they need a tremendous amount of help to reach the play-off. First, the need to beat Michigan next week and win the Big 10 championship for starters. If they play anywhere near like they have near like they have the past month, Michigan will wear them out.

Then Alabama and Clemson must lose twice, or they would be ahead of Ohio State. Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and maybe even Washington State would have to lose, or they will be ranked ahead of Ohio State. The committee has Ohio State ranked the lowest of the P5 one loss teams, they realize this Ohio State team has issues. Only idiot Ohio State fans are saying the Buckeyes deserve to be in the play-off if they win out. I personally don’t see them winning out and even if they do, they need lots of help.

While your post didn’t contain any logical thought, most of it was just your repeating what you read of some website, there was something of note deep in the weeds. You referenced Ohio State beating Northwestern. This is the reason while conference champions will never be guaranteed play-off spots. What id Northwestern won the Big 10 or Pittsburgh the ACC or West Virginia the Big 12 or Utah the Pac 12, do any of those schools deserve a chance in a 4-team play-off? Even if it is a 8-team play-off?

Good point. Plus years ago there used to be a half dozen or more "national champions". Heck we could declare a "national champion".

There is NO national championship in FBS college football. Period! If you need that explained to you I suggest you go back to "football school" first. The rest was merely pointing out the hypocrisy of the P5ers. I suppose that "logic" flew right over your head.

Do you mean the invitational? It's only a tournament in the barest sense of the word, and its certainly not a playoff in any sense of the word.

Absolutely correct. There will not be a true national champion until all conferences are represented. I’m not saying UCF was the best team last year, but it’s ridiculous to go undefeated and not even sniff the playoff.
