Well, Trump picked up the endorsement of the Taliban. Not a joke, unfortunately.
The Economist's model has a 91% chance of a Biden win.
FiveThirtyEight is up to 87% which is the highest it has been.
The Trump train looks like it is off the rails at this point. October surprise? That is about what it will take.
I would guess because Trump wants to withdraw our troops from Afghanistan and other regions of the world. At some point, and it's been 19 years, we need to leave Afghanistan. Hell, the Soviets only stayed 10 years.
I am torn on this. Yes, I want to see our troops out of harm's way and yes I am tired of spending money defending our countries and peoples. BUT! if the US withdraws into some form of isolationism another super power will fill the void. Our isolationism beget Nazi Germany and Japanese imperialism, and we ended up getting involved with both in the worst way.
But...as for Afghanistan...back in the 1870's the British invaded Afghanistan, from Pakistan, well...really from India or on behalf of India...and soundly defeated a standing Afghan army. The Brits occupied Kabul for about 8 months and repeatedly crushed any attempts by the Afghans to take it back. Then, in an attempt to defeat the Afghan tribes "once and for all" the Brits planned a campaign, together with "friendly" tribesmen, and they marched out to engage the Afghans. About 40,000 British soldiers and 70,000 "friendly" tribesmen marched 30 miles north of Kabul and finally found the main Afghan army, numbering about 90,000. The night before the battle the Afghan tribal leaders sent envoys into the "friendly" camps and paid them off. The next day it was 40,000 Brits vs. 160,000 Afghan troops. The Brits, in their manner, fought a heroic withdrawal. For three days there was a running battle until British reinforcements came from Kabul to help. Less than 10,000 of those 40,000 survived. Afterwards the British immediately withdrew back into Pakistan and on to India. The British commander, a field marshal, said "Afghanistan cannot be conquered, even by a military power. It is impossible. This land cannot be subdued."
The Brits, the Soviets, and others have all learned a hard lesson. So, unfortunately, so too must the US learn that lesson. Get out. Those that ignore history are condemned to relive it. Get us out of Afghanistan.

Have always liked and respected Frank Luntz and his analysis of elections and how voters will decide. He says that Trump will have to sweep all undecideds and even take away 5% of Biden supporters to squeak out a win. If that is true, well, that won't happen and this race is over. Luntz predicts Biden will actually get 2/3 of the undecideds and not lose any supporters at the last minute. If Luntz is right then Biden will win easily, in the EC, even as some states have close results. In the winner-takes-all EC you have only to get one more vote than your opponent and you get the whole wad of EC votes...except Maine and Nebraska.
According to Luntz the undecides are still weighing Trump's personality vs. Biden's policies. For me, that's a very easy choice. I'd rather have an asshole doing a great job than a nice guy wrecking the nation. But apparently there are those out there who are willing to sacrifice the country in favor of someone's Tweets!
Then, there are also those who insist that so-called undecideds are really Trump voters who don't want anyone to know they are.

We'll have to see what the final numbers are, but taken as is, I think part of the reason ABC might have had better ratings is that people who lean toward Biden are much more likely to watch ABC. And yes, to watch NBC too, true, but since a good portion of NBC's regular viewership hate Trump they tuned out, some switched to ABC, and others watched some gay-wad show on some cable channel instead. While Trump supporters were not as likely to watch anything on NBC...I had the game, GSU v. ASU, on on ESPN.
And...how the hell do they know what the actual viewership numbers (ratings) are anyway? And especially so fast? Do they have some electronic device on our TVs? (they might!)
But, if the numbers are accurate, it is just more evidence that Biden has this one in the bag...just like Killary did in 2016.
