Sonny Dykes had Tony Franklin as OC at LA Tech. Urban Meyer has Ryan Day (the next head coach) as OC at Ohio St. Lane Kiffin had Kendall Briles at FAU. Nick Saban had Lane Kiffin at Alabama. The list goes on and on. The point is, almost every successful offensive team has a good offensive coordinator. And you guys are telling me we don't have an OC at all, because Fitch is an OC in name only.
Fix it. Hire a good OC. We're not asking the school to split atoms here.
One more time.
It doesn’t matter who the OC is as long as Holtz is here. Holtz controls the play-calling and game-plan strategy. Any OC will be Holtz’s “yes” man. If he’s not he won’t be here long.
Skippy prob wants to be a o.c. more than he wants to be a h.c., but NOBODY would ever hire him to be a FBS o.c. because he's so bad at it, so he has to be a h.c. in order to realize his ambition.
If we’re university president, this would be one time I would step in and tell Skip how this will be done. Hire an oc and give him complete authority. If Skip doesn’t like it, i make other demands until he resigns.
We are getting close, but I think that might be premature at this point. We are just 2 years removed from one of our best offenses ever at Tech. What if this truly is all about J'Mar not being able to run it like Higgins could? What if we get another Higgins who has the potential of throwing for 5,000 yards? I think Holtz can still make this objection at this point.
......that's real old news. I've been advocating a HC change since mid season (UTEP). Have you not read any of my posts saying our offense is BORING, and that the man (Holtz) is running off Tech fans with his poor offenses?
Past behavior is the best predictor of future recidivism. I'm just not one of those people that thinks only Skip Holtz can deliver a 7-5 or 7-6 record at LA Tech. That's a fallacy. But it doesn't change the fact that LA Tech needs a real OC, no matter who the HC is.
Hell, I don't want to go look it up, I am lazy, but pretty sure HogDawg wanted him changed when we hired him lol.... There were a few that embraced the prophetic Heralds from on high- East Carolina and South Florida- I admit leary, but hoped what we saw early on was a new Skippypoo... Unfortunately it wasn't.
Hell apparently Skip is responsible for the destruction of the entire southeastern coast offensively.
People, please do not ignore the fact that we are in a crappy conference and most of Jack Bicknells teams could have performed as well. At least we never knew what was going to happen during a game coached by Peace, Crowton, Bicknell, Dooley, or Sonny.
Skips whole offensive scheme is do not turn the ball over, the Heck with scoring, just do not turn the ball over. We should go into the victory formation and down the ball in the 1st Q and continue through the game, that would lead to no turnovers. You think maybe that would keep HCSH and the pumpers happy?
One of the things I liked about Jack was he never really blamed the schedules etc. He did take a little shot at his going away presser, but I would have too. Those were some tough schedules. There are a lot of coaches that could get 6-7 wins every year with these schedules. The difference is they might beat USM, and not have an annual WTF game at the exact wrong moment. That means you are looking at 8-9 wins most years, and that means you are in the championship game most seasons. If you are in it you can win it, I our time of even being in it with Skippypoo are past us I believe.
