i thought I would never say this, but I have enjoyed the 'MACtion" mid-week games this year. Last night Western Michigan beat a favored Northern Illinois 28-21. It was a fun game to watch. Last week it was an OT game that ended up something like 42-41. I can't remember the teams. I guess I don't care much for the schools playing, but the games were actually entertaining (not like someone we all know).
Just saw that Boise and Utah State are both in top 25. We would be extremely lucky to have 5 wins total in the old WAC or new Mt West. Pitiful.
I expect us to win. But, WKU is better than their record and this is their last game...and they have seniors too. They will play loose...no pressure, and when they start hanging around in the 3rd qtr...like Tech 20 WKU 13 they'll start talking among themselves, "we can win this thing!" And then all it will take is one funny bounce of the ball...
I hope Ferguson gets his sacks to set the record. If he does, that'll be the one redeeming factor from the game.
UCF 10 USF 0 2nd qtr
But! the bigger news is UCF's QB McKenzie Milton has been injured and taken to the hospital with a serious leg injury. Back up QB is now in.
South Alabama bursts the Coastal Carolina bubble 31-28.
UCF 38 USF 10
Their RB, McCrae, is crazy fast! And they will have to depend on him to carry them. Milton broke his leg. Terrible injury, and is really too bad as this ruins UCF's run to another big win on NY's Day, IF! they get there. Memphis may beat UCF next week, and then the Utah State-Boazy State winner will leapfrog 'em in the G5 rankings.
In other action...
Oklahoma is a joke! First team ever to give up 40+ pts in four straight games...and go 4-0 in those games. Many teams surrender 40+ pts, but usually go 0-4. Well, first team since 1936. I would love to see Oklahoma draw Bama in a playoff game....no, I don't think OK deserves a CFP berth. But, it would be worth it to watch Bama embarrass 'em. Prediction would be: Bama 63 OK 28
You think Ohio St or Michigan deserve a spot over Oklahoma? I don't.
I don't believe fans turn out to see defense. Give me an offense that averages +40 per game and I'll deal with a defense that gives up +40 against other great offenses.
You do know Oklahoma is 11-1 right?
You're looking for entertainment....go to a good movie, if you can find one.
OK is a joke. Michigan would beat OK....OSU, I'm not so sure, they suck. You said, "I don't believe fans turn out to see defense." Then ban defense! Or, change the rules, make tackling illegal. Yeah, that's the ticket! Every single play would be a scoring play! Bet you'd love that!
Back to the question....I KNOW Michigan deserves a spot over OK, if they both win out, and that's not even close. If OSU upsets Mich, and OK wins out, I would choose OK over OSU....especially just to see Bama crush OK! Now that another joke of a pretender, Wash State has been eliminated, it appears the 4th spot will come from a pool that includes: OK, the Mich-OSU winner, UGA, after they lose to Bama next week, and...that's it.
Now, if Bama loses, Clemson loses, ND loses...that'll shake up the CFP picture a lot. Even given that, OK would be a longshot, and they should be. The only way OK should get a nod for the 4th spot would be if at 12-1, they are sitting there after a rash of upsets, and the committee is like....damn! we need a 4th team! But who!??? Gotta have somebody....well, chit! I suppose so....
