Thumbs Up Driskel to start the rest of season for Bengals

I know it's not a pro forum, but I'd like a happy thread - you like my use of thumbs up

Jeff Driskel will start for the Bengals the rest of the way, getting his first chance to lead the team in his third NFL season.

I hope the announcers says "Jeff Driskel from Louisiana Tech" and not Florida.

Nice opportunity here. The Bengals are only one game out of the wild card.

Re: Driskel to start the rest of season for Bengals

    https://www.bengals.com/news/noteboo...n-and-co-grind

Sunday’s second half had almost a surreal pre-season feel to it with back-up quarterback Jeff Driskel running things in the 35-20 loss to the Browns at Paul Brown Stadium, but make no mistake. The Bengals receivers have no qualms being in a huddle with him.
“Any time Jeff comes in he does phenomenally well,” said wide receiver John Ross after it was done.” “Jeff comes in and fills that void when he needs to and can do things with his arm and his legs. Jeff fits right in when he comes in.”
“He’s an athlete. He’s a stud,” said wide receiver Tyler Boyd.
Both caught touchdowns Sunday, Ross from Andy Dalton and Boyd had to laugh about the 28-yarder in the third quarter that was Driskel’s first NFL touchdown pass. After Boyd shook off a tackle at the 10 to make it 35-13, he fired the ball at the end-zone wall in frustration. Except …
“It slipped and it went into the stands. Crazy,” Boyd said. “I had to tell him my bad.”

Bengals signed Tom Savage today....I guess as a back-up.

Driskel will do well. He was 17 of 29 for 160 yds and 1 TD, no INTs yesterday, after Dalton went out.

Good. I've tried to watch some Bengals games on the off chance he got time but there's usually something better on.

Now I can make it a priority though.

I believe this would make Jeff the 5th former La Tech QB to start an NFL game. Slaughter, Bradshaw, Rattay, and McCown being the other 4.

He will get plenty of work and likely be involved in some shootouts to end the year. The Bengals D is EPIC bad ... Remember the worst ever Saints defense? Yes ... that bad and they get some fun offenses to be involved in shootouts with (Steelers, Browns, Chargers should all be able to put up points).

Here is an audio clip of a scouting report interview on Driskel with HCSH from today. HC also talks a little about Jaylon. Good exposure for Tech and HC did us proud. https://orangeandblue760.iheart.com/featured/crockett-and-stout/content/2018-11-27-skip-holtz-la-tech-head-fb-coach-talks-coaching-jeff-driskel-in-cfb/

I have to give HCSH kudos for that one! Very nice job...

That's Skip Holtz at his very best. There's not a coach in America better at telling stories and engaging the public.

Now......if we could just get Skip to learn a thing or two about offenses.

That is definitely good Holtz. He is a good ambassador. I am the eternal optimist who believes anyone can break old habits and learn new stuff.
