    Week 14 the Conference Championships

    Last night...

    Washington beat Utah 10-3
    NIU upset Buffalo 29-28

    Any upsets today? Thoughts?

I think Memphis has a really good chance of knocking off UCF, since they lost their QB. But!! often we see a team rally around itself, and the other guys step up their games to compensate for the loss. I think that happens today and UCF remains unbeaten.

UAB at MTSU I hope the Blue Meanies win this one. But, I'm not so sure. This is really a toss-up, though I am leaning toward UAB pulling it out. That team that played in Ruston is pretty damn good, especially that Front Seven. If that UAB team shows up today, they'll win it.

Oklahoma will handle Texas, fairly easily. I hope not! It would be funny for UT to beat them again. But I doubt OK is in the mood for something "funny" happening.

OSU will smoke Northwestern, and Clemson will do likewise to Pitt. No contests in both of those.

    Boazy beats Fresno.... and....

Bama nips UGA in a "closer than the experts think" game.

There are a few regular season games as well, including Marshall at Va Tech. On another day, MU would have a real chance, but not today. Va Tech has everything riding on this to go bowling, and the outcome will not affect MU's destination.

I watched a bit of the PAC12 game last night and came away thinking the caliber of football wasn't much different than CUSA. Also watched some of the MAC championship and thought the teams weren't as good as CUSA. And yes, I recognize where CUSA is as a conference.

Memphis takes UCF. Mid Tn vs UAB is a toss up & I'm pulling for Blue Raiders. Oklahoma probably wins but its not a sure thing & I won't be surprised if Texas knocks them off. Buckeyes probably win and possibly big. Clemson beats Pitt. Boise vs Fresno will be close and I pull for anyone playing the Cali Thugs.

    UGA finds a way.

Last two games, Memphis vs UCF

UCF 62 Mem 55 in OT
    UCF 31 Mem 30

So, those games could have easily gone the other way. And in both, Milton won those games for UCF. The position of QB is so important....ahem....but, as I said, often a team will rally to compensate for a lost player. The loss of a quality QB can greatly impact a team over a longer haul, but just for one game...UCF can still win this, even without Milton. Might be the best game of the day!

Oh oh! on Gameday Herbstreit just echoed what I said and picked UCF. He is wrong so often....poor ole UCF.

....I wish LA Tech fans could just imagine the same thing that happened to UCF happening to us.....losing our QB to a season-ending injury. Skip Holtz is in NO WAY prepared for an outcome like this. Holtz and LA Tech would literally be reduced to starting and playing a QB who's taken less than 10 snaps all season, if that. Talk about unprepared......these things do happen. Holtz should have at least sprinkled around some playing time to other QB's this fall.

Interesting how you left out the Sunbelt Championship game between Appy and ULL today. Yes, ULL is playing on Championship Saturday, and LA Tech is not.

UAB had 3 offensive linemen and a running back out last week and was shut down by MTSU. Will those 4 play this week? If so, will they make the difference in the game? We will soon find out.

I think ULL is better than we are, but not better than APP State.

FYI.....ULL plays two QB's regularly. The announcers said they've done this all year. They play the starter (QB1) for 3 series', and then put in QB2 for one series. And ULL's QB2 is very mobile. They call this the 3X1 rotation and they do it throughout each game.

I actually like this. This way the team isn't at risk of having a completely inexperienced starting QB if QB1 goes down to a season ending injury.

It also forces the opposing team to have multiple gameplans. If you’re only partially prepared for 2 situations, you really aren’t prepared for either. Smart move on their part.

    Appy - 20
    ULL - 16

12 Min left in 4th Qtr.

This game is much closer than I thought it would be. I thought Appy was a lot better than everyone else in the Sunbelt. I guess I'm guilty of buying into the Sunbelt's propaganda.

And just like that, Appy breaks a long run and scores a TD.

On 4th down and 1, Appy runs a QB KEEPER and scores on a 34-yd TD run. (Holtz would have never even tried!)

    Appy - 27
    ULL - 16

    11:43 left in 4th Qtr.
