I say every P5 team plays 9 conference games, no championship game. Determine your champion from that. Schedule your three non-conference games at your own peril. You can take the Kansas State/UCF route and schedule easy and take your chances on an at-large bid. Or schedule the toughest games available and have a little margin for error/
We may have differing opinions on the best way to expand the play-off, but everyone should be in agreement the play-offs need to be expanded. The current play-off and bowl system just isn't very appealing. Too many teams who do not seem to care about their bowl game, too many great players skipping games. We need to make more of the games matter. And, my goodness I am getting a little bored with Alabama and Clemson.
How did Tech not offer Isaiah Buggs from
Ruston High, now a great player for Alabama after he got zero offers so he went juco. Was it grades?
Good old Memorial Gym
What is this "inside slant" that they keep talking about?

Excuse the language, but F the P5! Have a real playoff. Cut one game off the regular schedule, have every conference champion play each other in week one. Match up the weakest G5 with the strongest P5 and play it out every weekend. EXTEND THE SEASON and make every bowl game a playoff game, if needed. That is the only way to have a clear National Champion of all FBS! There were some G5 teams this year that could have beaten some P5 Champions and, over time, you would have even more evening out of the programs - knowing that every team has a chance of making the playoffs and winning. P5's would HATE it, but tv rankings would go up 10 fold! ESPN should be pushing this big time!
P5s have all the power. For the G5 to gain a seat at the table, it’ll need to be 16. That will happen when several of those P5 champs have 3-4 losses and there are undefeated G5’s.
If ESPN wants to have more viewers and make more money, they need to start advocating to blow up the current system entirely. I know the P5"s have all the power, but it is time for ESPN to realize the potential of the opportunity for some spectacular bowl games that mean something. It is SO obvious! The only way it happens is if a power like ESPN gets involved. They make a lot of money from their NY 6 bowls, but just think of the massive money potential of a true playoff with all conferences.
