Crap. He would have been my first choice for our next coach (after we go 14-0 next year and Holtz gets hired away).
Nevermind - he’s going to be HC at Miami
Former Louisiana Tech defensive coordinator has bounced from being recently named head football coach at Temple back to Miami as the head coach where he had been defensive coordinator this year.
He is a native of Miami but the article, “Born and raised in Miami, he is of The U. Manny Diaz might be the perfect fix for Canes,” does ask the question “Is he a head coach?” and can he fix the offense at Miami.

Does he go after Blake Baker?
Temple is getting $6.5 million for losing 2 head coaches. Diaz has been amazingly successful in coaching defenses — including our’s — to create turnovers. How he will fare as a head coach is certainly a question, though.
Good old Memorial Gym
Congrats to Diaz!!
I'm always skeptical of any coach taking on his first head coaching job at any powerhouse school. He immediately goes from being a fairly singularly focused teacher to running the whole shebang. We're talking hiring, firing, scheduling, recruiting, running practices, etc....I think its wise for people to get that kind of experience at a lower level (G5, FCS, Div II, etc...) first, because mistakes will be made. The Head coach is the CEO of the football program. There's a big difference between being an OC or DC and being the HEAD COACH at a powerhouse school that has high expectations. I know Diaz is "family....but Miami ain't Kansas. Kliff Kingsbury was family too.
Does Baker get a call from Diaz?
