    Redemption for CUSA?

I saw multiple sites rank CUSA as the worst conference with our UTEP the national loser. It was hard to argue with those results.

But then the bowl season started, and we won two third of our games, a winning record.

    Against

    MWC: 1-1
    MAC: 2-0
    Sunbelt: 0-1
    AAC: 1-0

Fairly decent, considering where we started. Thoughts?

Our 4-2 bowl record this post season is about the only positive thing one can say about CUSA's football season this year.

The Nevada-Ark State game was the 2nd worst football game of the bowl season, just behind TCU's ugly win over CAL in OT. These were two games nobody wanted to win.

C-USA has the only female commissioner. We are a great conference because we are PC. Does performance really matter?

Nancy P should allocate some money (lots) to CUSA.

CUSA does well in games that do not matter.

I would argue the opposite. Bowl game viewership is probably 20x greater than the viewership of most of the other games C-USA plays in, and C-USA has clinched a winning record in 7 of the last 8 bowl seasons. In general, C-USA is winning when most people are actually watching.

Was that Arkie State's lone FBS non-conference win in the last decade? lol

Most bowl games do not matter any longer. Stadiums are empty (can't even give tickets away), tv ratings suck. Many star players do not play. Some teams have massive roster turnover before their bowl games. That's why the play-offs will expand sooner rather than later.

For instance, this years Hawaii Bowl (the bowl game we played in) had the lowest tv ratings in 13 years, due to a number of reasons.

Yep, everyone has learned that the CUSA is a conference to be reckoned with. A power-house of the also-rans.

That's obviously not what I was saying.

My argument was C-USA usually wins when most people watch. That's a fact.

So most bowl games don't matter anymore, but you think something like the regular season game WKU lost to Ball State available only through online streaming is somehow more meaningful? That's laughable.

You say bowl games don't matter because bowl TV ratings suck even though millions of people watch them, and many more people watch bowl games than regular season games involving C-USA. Okay... I fail to see your logic there. Only 3 of 114 regular season games involving C-USA (Oklahoma-FAU, Wisconsin-WKU, UCF-FAU) registered a larger viewership than C-USA's least-watched bowl game (FIU-Toledo in the Bahamas). That's why ESPN keeps buying and starting up more bowl games for their TV programming.

You say bowl games matter less than unidentified regular season games because bowl stadiums are empty, yet most bowls involving C-USA have better attendance than every home game played by that C-USA school. When's the last time we got 31K in Aillet Stadium like they had at Aloha Stadium? Never.

Most bowl games don't matter because star players from C-USA or our bowl opponents are sitting out bowl games? Umm...

Bowl games don't matter due to massive roster turnover before all the pre-Christmas G5 bowl games? What are you talking about?

So you think the playoffs will expand soon? What does that have to do with the price of tea in China?

Let's be intellectually honest about your example involving Tech's Hawaii Bowl. You know you can't compare our 10:34 PM EST kickoff, the 4th college football game of a quadruple-header, with the first half going up against the second NFL game of the night, to the traditional Christmas Eve Hawaii Bowls that were in primetime against no competition that day. That's a completely invalid argument due to the number of reasons you hinted at. Half of America was already in bed when we kicked off! The Hawaii Bowl was still BY FAR the most watched Tech game of the season, doubling the Tech-LSU viewership. None of our other 11 games had viewership to even be measured because so few people watch unless you wanna count the Facebookers who had our game pop up on their news feed.

If bowl games don't matter, then what games do matter?
