ULM gets a "hall of shame" type mention in it. Thankfully, we did not.
College students today just don't have the same passion for football that prior generations did. This trend will continue and attendance will continue to decline. The football programs at schools in G5 conferences are in serious peril.
It's not difficult to find out why they stopped coming. Lack of wifi/internet access is a big reason. It's an easy and inexpensive fix. We've gone two years in a row now with policies that hurt student attendance. We've doubled down on stupid instead of finding a solution. The students are our future. Kiss ass...do whatever we have to do to keep them from being lsu fans.
ulm only had 13,000 tix scanned...i.e. butts in the seats....for FIVE home games? That's 2,600/game. Didn't they host ULALA? Bet the lion's share of those 13K happened in that one game. At least, I would think so.
I know ours wasn't much better. But still..I KNOW we had at least 13,000 for the UAB game by itself. Went down hill after that.
Today kids have so many entertainment options (gaming, social media, Netflix, etc). Also, parents spend fortunes on activities like soccer and dance. The interest in football will drastically decline with the new generations of kids.
Win, and put an exciting product on the field, and people will still show up. Look at what UNT did this season.
But when you don't win at home, and you don't have an exciting product for people to watch, people will find something else to do.
You can actually pick up campus wifi in parts of the Joe and TAC. They just need to expand the range. Buy some wireless router extensions that plug into a wall outlet, connect them, place them around.
It would at least support more internet for the students. I have one in my home, router is in the living room and the extension is plugged in in a hallway.
We have consistently crapped the bed at home. IMO that is one of the major reasons attendance at home has suffered. When you get blown out by UAB, nearly lose to a winless UTEP and get whipped by a powerhouse 2 win Western Kentucky, it’s gonna be hard to sell $20+ tickets. With the exception of 2016, Holtz has lost every marquee matchup in the Joe since he’s been here.

The whole school is struggling. They are trying to get a property tax levied in Ouachita Parish to support the university. Not a very popular idea so far.
nlulm is being sold as an economic engine for the parish. While it is one of the things Jamie Mayo and his sales peeps have not managed to completely destroy, the parish tax payers pay plenty to support nlulm already. Our property taxes are plenty high enough and any new taxes need to be dedicated to roads and bridges.
