Anyone? All you guys down on Skip take note. Major fired after only two seasons in which he went 15-11. Lost his starting QB and best definsive lineman in the nation. I don't think they gave him a good chance.

He's the type of guy I could see Skip reeling in for a year or 2.
Have you considered those Dogs?
So, who are the leading candidates for the Houston job? Not sure I believe some of these mentioned in this story.

We have a guy on staff that has called more plays than anyone else on the current staff in college and in the NFLHe should be the OC now... No reason to bring someone else in. Tim Rattay has proven himself at 2 levels. I'd like to see if he could do it as a coach

Applewhite has had OC experience at Alabama, Texas and Houston. He has also had HC experience now. I was thinking more along of the lines of replacing Skip with Major and promoting Tim to OC. Major would not be around long if successful so that would open it up for Tim.
I agree it's not going to happen. Just thinking.
No.
I’d be in favor of Rattay taking the reins of the offense.
Within 3 years... Holtz to AD, Rattay to HC and we’ll go from there.
One other Dawg I wish would make a return to Tech in some capacity is Dunigan.
Why would anyone want Applewhite anywhere near our program?
Applewhite has pretty much been a failure almost everywhere he's been as both OC and HC.
He was the OC who engineered UT's downfall to get a national championship winning coach fired. Mack had to fire Manny as the scapegoat because he couldn't fire the Texas legend Major Applewhite.
He was also the OC at Bama who could only manage 14 points in a loss to ULM, and then Saban fired him.
Not only that, he would bring baggage involving his scandal as a coach with a UT student.
The only time Applewhite was really successful was a couple years as UH OC with Herman as HC, and I'm pretty sure that had a lot more to do with Herman than Applewhite.
He was a major underachiever as HC at UH (no pun intended).
He got his jobs due to his popularity as a UT QB, especially in Texas, and for whatever reason, his popular reputation is still primarily the result of his playing career, not his coaching prowess. Or maybe it's just because he has a cool name.
I wouldn't touch him with a 10-foot pole.
I was impressed by Houston's offense last year and this year before their quarterback got hurt. Outside of that, I got nothing.
